  • A replacement/restart of the GDHIF is expected to be announced December 7th according to @captainhindsight above.

I'm guessing this will include an EWI element, subject to qualifying criteria e.g. having solid walls.
  • I have recently moved from a 3 bed terraced where I was paying a total of £66 for gas and electric. I am disabled and not working so money is tight, hence I really try to be careful with my usage.
I have just moved into a 2 bed terraced where the landlord told me that due to all the recent home improvements my bills would be "much lower".
However, yesterday he informed that through the Green Deal Scheme I am to pay £99. I told him that I couldn't afford this but all he said was that I could use more energy if I wanted to! The thing is, I don't want to, I just want low bills.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thank you.

This shows the importance of looking at the EPC.

You could try and call the GDORB or energy saving trust help line the number is 0300 1231234.

What I am guessing they will say is that on the last page of the epc that should have been made available to you it will clearly state the terms of the green deal loan on the property.

If this wasn't made available to you when you asked or if they showed you an old one they may attempt to void the loan and claim the money from the person who was at fault.

Good luck, but tbh I don't think there will be much you can do other tthanmove if you don't want to pay the finance

is there a new external wall insulation grant scheme or a current one that anyone is aware of ? Home improvement one has now ended I believe. Thanks

Something is coming but we don't know what or when. All we know is £100m and they will anounce the details before the end of November.

What we do know is on 7th December there is an update to the software the assessor use to show what improvements should be made to your home.

So I am guessing that it would co-inside with that but who knows....

The finance company behind the Green Deal are in trouble. Looking for a bailout from the government. They need 60,000 deals yet only have 4700 odd.

  • I have a current EPC for a house I have just moved into. It says imeed d/g and cavity wall insulation. Can this be used instead of paying for a GDA? If so, what is the next step?
    Thanks

Depends how you want to pay for it?

So GD finance you need a gdar, If it's your own money + GD Cashback we don't know yet. The old scheme you could just use an EPC but details of the new one haven't been announced yet.

Either way you need to contact GD installers and get some quotes for the work you want doing. If you go to the green deal participants register it will show a list of approved installers
