........and are we all living with our heads in the sand on what will soon be a massive population of 10 billion living on a very marginal finite third hot rock from the sun?0

Heard on radio on Friday that all the cash for external insulation has gone already!!!! Next tranche due February.0

Can't believe MSE website email complete overhype of the Green Deal
£5600 To improve your home.
IF YOU'RE READY, GO QUICK; IF NOT, PREPARE ASAP FOR NEXT TIME.
The scheme is okay if you are gonna die in the home you live in now. Paying off a boiler for 25 years...get real nothing last 25 years anymore. Only after reading many pages into this article do you read that it's definitely not for all unlike the initial grab your attention headline suggested, and if you can improve your home yourself then avoid this product as it will devalue your home. No matter how it's parcelled up its debt.0 -
Here's the thing: the *cash* hasn't gone, it's the *vouchers* that have gone.
Of the £120M made available in *back in June* around £90M of the vouchers allocated haven't been used yet. These vouchers expire at the end of January.
It's a total trainwreck.0 -
The one I got this time expired after funds ran out since I could not get a land registry certificate to prove ownership in 2 hours.
Added to that is the complete chaos of actually getting someone who says they will do the work to actually do the work.
It feels like they just want to do the assessments.0 -
I note on the Green Deal HIF website, an EPC can be used to apply for funding.
We actually have British Gas coming out next month to inspect our property for free cavity wall insulation. I understand an EPC will be completed as a result of this inspection. Does anybody know if this will suffice when applying for the Green Deal HIF? Or will I still have to get a Green Deal assessment from a registered assessor?0 -
My daughter has just bought an old bungalow with solid walls in Wolverhampton. Had Assessment and quote for external insulation,
Quote is £17000.00 (it is a large property) assessor said they would only get £1000.00 and gave explanation the low figure was because of their postcode, they live in a better part of the town!!! I cannot find any mention of location in Green deal ? any commentsIt's not the growing old I mind but the growing stupid withit0 -

The Eco part of green deal is made up of three parts, to get the most money you need to be on benefits, the Middle amount no benefits but live in a low income area, lowest amount everyone can get it.
She would be better off getting GDHIF as this will pay £4k and applications open again in February."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
I'm trying to work my way through the green deal home improvement fund process. I want to get a new boiler (the old one is g rated and on its way out). I'm looking for a second improvement, and double glazing seems to be the best option, or replacement doors. My problem is finding a green deal registered installer that does double glazing. The main list have all installers, but they aren't broken down by category of improvement. Has anyone else managed to find a green deal installer that does double glazing? Or new doors?0

The GDORB list has an advance search function where you can filter installers by type of work, including those that specialise in the installation of double glazing.0
