Postage Gouging...again!

I posted as a rant and then I got jumped on. I then continued to post to try and defend my position.
If its just a rant then use teh rant board?
You knew the price of what you were buying...end of.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
Yes, I did know what I was buying. Which, having just double checked the listing, says:
£3.50
United Kingdom
Standard Delivery (Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded)
Estimated within 3-4 working days
So maybe all those who jumped on me, need to step back a little and consider that maybe I am right and the seller is wrong?0 -
You missed the point - what you think is a packet - some post offices fit through the slot - but others say if it even touches the sides it cannot go large letter. Not everone as a slot at home - like i have either. Ive seen some PO's force it through - that is not what they are supposed to do.
My post office is VERY generous and will send many packets as large letter. Some are even too wide and too long. They do it because they are commission based and want to keep their very large customer base happy.
But some times i worry that some nasty vindictive Ebayer might trash may stars for it. So far though - they havent - because most Ebayers are nice.
I have actually made my own slot - which is why I am suspicious. I measure the home-made slot at 23mm, but had an item today that was too thick for the Post Office slot.0 -

Another point i will just make.
I don't know if everyone does - but i assume MOST sellers pack the item after it sells.
Therefore - you can never be 100% of the final cost. Sometimes it ends up bigger, or indeed smaller than expected. You can only make your best estimate.
Last week, i wasn't happy with an item i had packed. It was going via courier, and was likely to be thrown around. I therefore double boxed it - to protect it.
By doing so - it cost me £4 extra to post. Should i pass on the cost to the buyer? Of course not - we agreed a price.0 -

Postage is often used as a minimum price on an item. Just take it that way, if the price is bad dont bid. Ive charged postage then delivered it by hand, I really wasnt making that much so every penny counts.
Its my pergoative so long as its gets there on time as defined in the item details
Theres nothing to complain about, if they had put on too many stamps would it help you at all.
On the other hand Ive had an order at 5pm on friday that arrived for that person the next morning hundreds of miles away, do I get to charge more for that kind of immediate service - nope0 -
Yet another thread proving that the only way to keep customers happy is to give free postage. Charging the exact amount, or subsidising still doesn't make some buyers happy. As Ebay will say, it is the buyer's opinion of the postage cost. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0
