And thats really why Ebay brought this out - to earn more money.
I just can't undertstand why some buyers think its their problem too.
The fact you get the item cheaper in the first place - is because the seller as saved fees. Unfair on over sellers maybe - but buyers are gaining - just too daft to notice.
It does stop the 99p item with £100 postage brigade though - and i tend to avoid them. But the fact is - buyers get it a lot cheaper.0 -

1.99 + 0.99 postage = good value
0.99 + 1.99 postage = bad value
For low prices like that no one would care but
10.00 + 2.00 postage = good value
2.00 + 10.00 postage = Dodgy seller avoiding paying fees. What else is dodgy about them, is the item fake? They obviously don't care about rules so wouldn't be helpful if there was something wrong etc.0 -

My post office is VERY generous and will send many packets as large letter. Some are even too wide and too long. They do it because they are commission based and want to keep their very large customer base happy.
.
I think this is very dangerous, if the package is checked in the system it will not be delivered and your buyer will have to go collect and pay the extra postage and the handling fee.
It has happened to me, seller posted something with just a large letter stamp, didnt take it to the post office, It was a large letter but over the 100grm limit, I had to go to the sorting office and pay an extra £1.30 to get it.
I didnt trash them for it but it can happen.if i had known then what i know now0 -
Are you AGAIN trying to imply that I am a scammer?
No, have you got something to hide? :rotfl:
I mean the fake good sellers, dodgey ticket sellers, the people who never send the goods, the dodgey car dealers, people with lots of negs for bad service etc etc.
But send a few items a day late or £1 over priced on postage and your off - even if you have 100% postive feedback.0 -

I brought this up and was assured that Royal Mail would never pull and item with an official Post Office stamp on. There would be no point -as the sender could blame the Post office.
They only pull home stamped items or pre-paid online lables.
But im not 100% convinced - so its still a worry. That said - never had an email from a buyer with excess postage to pay.0 -

The last time I did a big listing day, I went to the post office, dumped all the parcels and paid the final bill. I have no idea what each item cost to post, I charged the same for all of them. I didn't then go home and charge those I undercharged more, and refund those I overcharged You win some, you lose some. Who has the time?
Have you ever looked at the sellers discussion boards on ebay? There's always sellers every month getting banned who go on about all the years they've been on ebay, usually followed by saying they have 100% feedback and don't know why this has happened.0 -

That's why I think these discussions become almost pointless. If every single one of us agreed that buyers should leave 5* regardless of what they were charged or what packaging was used, we must keep warning that it doesn't work like that.
If it made no difference what we changed then why do we get so many threads from people worrying that they are showing low stars in p and p.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I posted as a rant and then I got jumped on. I then continued to post to try and defend my position.
As a rant - ok. Hoping for the twee faithful to commiserate?
You need some real stress in your life.
This forum mantra re keeping your account is absolute BS There are thousands of ebay sellers upping postage, some are massive sellers.
Get in to a shop and buy your clothes for petes sake. Do something useful in your life.0
