Had a good chat with DH about how I was feeling and went to bed feeling much better. Then I had a dream that I had a little boy who was so gorgeous and I couldn't stop cuddling him :( x

  • Morning All,

T2D - Nice to see you.

afm. CD1 for me. Pretty sure FF is wrong by two days and af wasn't late at all.
  • Hi ladies,

Well I am on a mission. I had an appointment with my FS on Thursday and it was a pretty emotional time.
I have done absolutely nothing to help myself over the last few months (well except BD'ing more, which is a good start obviously) but I've really not done anything to help my weight and I've not been taking my metformin - half of me because I'm THE most forgetful person in the world, and the other because even though I haven't been taking it, my cycles are becoming much more regular so I'm reluctant to start taking it properly in case it sends them haywire!

Anyway, I admitted to my doctor that I hadnt been taking them and hadnt lost any weight - I was expecting a right royal rollocking but instead I just got a very polite and stern talking to - which I think was worse because I just ended up bursting into tears.

It was just one of those 'the truth hurts' moments... I know I need to help myself but am my own worst enemy. But he basically told me if I don't lose weight, I will NEVER get pregnant - I would obviously love to prove him wrong but I dont want to chance it, so Id rather take him at his word and do something about it.
He also explained the options for IVF saying and that I'm not entitled to help (without paying for it) until I'm down below BMI 30 which he then went onto add, he didnt think I would achieve in my current mindset! :(

So I'm now on a mission to prove him wrong on both accounts - get below BMI 30 and get pregnant!!!
I'm off to my first Slimmin World class on Wednesday and have a target of my 34th birthday in November to lose 3 and a half stone!
And I'm setting myself reminders to take my pills on a regular basis - which the doc thinks should help my weight loss.

    Wish me luck ladies!!!! :rotfl:

    Squirrel large hugs firstly
Secondly, what dose of metformin are you on? I find it easier to remember to take it if I associate it with mealtimes. Before I eat I take it and it's always in my handbag so I never not have it with me. Then it also helps me to eat proper meals, none of this skipping breakfast then having a massive naughty lunch cos I'm starving lol
when are you back at the fs? My weight loss goals are directly related to appointments weigh in days are Thursdays as my appointment is Thursdays.
With pcos losing just 10% of your bodyweight can have a massive effect on reducing the symptoms so I see my weight loss in 10% chunks

And good luck! There's a few of us pcos ladies getting our bottoms in gear after a kicking from doctors. Mine said 'how much weight you lose shows how much you want to get pregnant' and I've really taken that to heart. The recent stress comfort eating not withstanding lol x

  • Thanks TL, I need to build up my Metformin dose - currently i'm on one a day which I take with breakfast. However I need to build up to 3 x a day so I guess that will be Breakfast, lunch and tea!! I usually have lunch at a set time because of work so I am going to set a reminder on my phone to remind me as well - my hubby is going to be reminding me in the evening. and my phone. and my mum. and my cat - i really need that much help!

My FS appts are on a thurs morning - although my next one is is 2 months - but as I will have had a weigh in the night before I will be able to tell him with authority just how much I have lost!!!

I'm going to try and fit in an exercise class as well if I can - need to get off my bum and move!

I know I've set myself a target date (I need to do this) but I will also be setting myself mini goals too - I've done this so many times before but I've never had so much of an incentive as I have been given this week!
  • Hi there - just a thought about metformin - I used to struggle to remember to take it three times a day so switched to slow release version which is the same dose but you only take once. Might be worth asking about if you think it would help.
  • KScarlet - thank you xxx

Squirrel - good luck! I did ww a few years ago and it worked well for me. I've put it back on but that's due to me now working in an office and health reasons. Someone mentioned my weight and that spurred me on to lose it. Wrote their comment on piece of paper and stuck it on the fridge lol - that helped too!

Can anyone give me any tips? So far I'm just taking notes of my body, temp, weight etc and charting them. Is there anything else you would recommend? I tried using opk's last time but as I work full time and don't want anyone at work to know, have avoided them so far (plus in the year I tried them - I never got a positive one!). I have a heart-shaped womb so have been told getting/staying pregnant is difficult anyway. Hubby had SA and all ok-ish. Thanks ladies xxx

  • I lost my biggest amount of weight previously at Slimming World but that was before I knew I had PCOS so I reckon with a bit of extra knowledge, it will be even better!
