    Hello,

Becca0417 thanks for the list update. But I think I better go with CD4 as I had a 2 day "AF" on Monday. I'll take my temp tomorrow and see if it's above my usual baseline and maybe test. But I better stay realistic and believe it was an odd AF. Got some cramps lower than my tummy, which was dodgy the last few days and my breast feel fuller but I'm probably SSing. You read al the time that women bleed and then have a BFP but how likely is it really? Will check back in tomorrow with an update

    Hi all,

I am a first time poster but have been reading through this thread with interest.

I have been TTC since June 2012 with no joy so far.

My partner and I are both in our late 20s and have been together for 8 years.

I stopped my contraceptive pill in June 2012 and since then have had fairly regular cycles albeit with some variation in length (27,26,27,26,29,28,29,25,25,33,30). I have only used an ovulation kit once out of these cycles as my partner isnt keen on 'trying' when told on a certain date etc but with no joy despite getting a smiley face and bding a fair bit!

I've read through many of the previous posts on the thread and see many of you seem to temp and observe cm, I am completely lost in this area! Do you feel it is an important idicator I should try focusing on?

Many thanks for reading and any advice you may have for me :)

Hi 159! Welcome to our TTC thread....

My advice would be as follows:

    1. Live your life AS NORMALLY AS POSSIBLE. Seriously, I can't stress it enough! TTC will drive you mad if you let it. It's too late for me, I'm too far gone but it does you no good to become obsessed.
    2. Take 400mg folic acid a day- I assume you already are....

With regards to temping and observing CM I would discuss that with your OH. If he doesn't like OPKs he's not going to like being woken up by a beeping thermometer at exactly the same time everyday! I think temping can be quite stressful (in my experience) as you spend weeks looking for ov temp rises, then you spend weeks dreading a drop. My temp usually drops about 3 days before AF and it's very disheartening. Plus your PH thinks you're mental for crying over a temperature....

CM observing is much simpler and your OH won't know if you don't want him too. For the best information on temping and CM I'd do the fertility course on https://www.fertilityfriend.com if I were you. There's also a good website on cervix monitoring https://www.beautifulcervix.com though it is graphic so probably not for work computers.... ;)

From my own personal TTC 'journey' *eurgh* I would stress the following:

    1. Talk to your OH and make sure he's on the same page as you. Does he realise there's a small fertile window. My OH believed when we started that you could get pregnant at any time during a cycle. He became a lot more understanding when I had the birds and bees talk with him... :rotfl:
    2. Don't delay in asking your GP for help. If you're still TTC in June go and start the ball rolling. We waited for 18 months and it's taken 6 months after that to find out that I have half a uterus and OH's sperm is totally lazy (we're both 29- to say this news has been a shocker is an understatement). We've got our IVF initial appointment soon- It could've been 6 far less stressful months ago though...
    3. Don't symptom spot... :naughty: Google is not your friend. It's unlikely to have pregnancy symptoms before your missed period and AF symptoms are exactly the same as pregnancy symptoms....
    4. Don't expect a BFP at 6 DPO.... That's crazy talk. :rotfl:
    5. Don't keep it to yourself. Whether you use a forum or have a real life friend who you can talk to about the crazy things you're thinking/ doing- keep talking!

Wow... Sorry about the long post!
  • I am happy to announce that as of tomorrow.... drum roll please....

I am no longer temping! Woop! Screw you Duo! No more freaking out over temperatures (example: 'oh my... 35.02?!? Am I dead? OR *manically happy* 'woohoo... 36.03- eggs away!'- both thoughts from this cycle..)

Now I just have to argue with Duo to get a full refund. I don't think I'm being arsey to think that I should get a full refund- they're only offering a partial refund which I think is out of order. If we hadn't have had the tests/ SA and carried on until December (and obviously not got pregnant) we'd have been entitled to a full refund. It seems for us being honest and telling them, we've saved them time to our expense...

Or am I being an !!!!? They're talking about docking about £200 from the initial £500 which is £200 that IMO is mine, and can go into the new IVF savings account (for when the NHS cycles don't work...)

Tea - that whole guide should be on the first page of this thread - it's too late for many of us, but maybe you could save someone elses sanity :rotfl:

As for the Duo thing - you're being absolutely reasonable. Fight the good fight! I hope you won't need the private IVF fund and it can become the fun baby items fund instead.

I had my day 4 bloods done again and got a call from the GP asking me in. Have established I won't go in til after the c. 21 day bloods as I think they're going to tell me I've PCO (again, for the third time) but this should mean a referral to the fs once and for all. This is a long road...
  • hey how are you all getting one? Still no joy here. keep thinking this month it will happen.... but it isnt. I hate waiting. Hope you are all well xxx
Just take each day as it comes. :)

Oh TCD whilst I totally agree with your entire post is it wrong of me to imagine you saying this bit with a full on B A Baracas voice?

I pity the fool who Poas at 6 dpo :D

On a serious note I hope you manage to get your money back from duo. I'm sure they'll try everything they can to wriggle out of paying up though.

Welcome 159 may your stay be short

    Hugs to all x
