I thought that it was fine to eat, drink and take medication as normal during you 2ww as the baby doesn't yet 'take' anything from the mother's system. Am I wrong? I can't live with acting like I might be pregnant for half of every month as that will drive me insane! I'm already in cycle 8 of ttc.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!

I heard the same Kynthia because as the placenta hasn't formed yet properly the embryo isn't gaining nutrients directly from you yet. However I have been reading a lot about fertility and read that alcohol can be a factor.

However a major factor is stress, and I feel that if I give up drinking and obsess to much I'll be putting my life on hold and therefore will be stressed! I think I'll continue as before, with moderate drinking Friday and Saturday.. wine is already chilling :P

She goes in 2 weeks to discuss options. She had a scare about 5/6 years ago but this time not so lucky. I'll keep you updated as I know more. She wanted people at work to know about her situation as soon as possible to get max support which she will do.

Too many babies and pregnant people around me at the mo. Getting quite fed up

I have my last assignment this sunday and then i am free :P
  • Jammy. You're not out yet. Knicker twitching around AF time is so frustrating. Are you sure you ovulated on day 14? It could just be that you've Ov'd slightly later than usual or that there's a shy one. I think modern pregnancy tests are horrible things- I sometimes wish it was like when my Mum had me and the only way to know for sure was to either go to the doctors or wait to miss a period. A BFN is like a kick in the teeth- I wish they invented one that broke it to you nicely... like maybe 'Sorry not today, but you're really rocking those pajamas...' ;)

Hi Picklepin As someone who has been trying for 2 years I would say that within reason anything you may do during your 2ww probably won't have any impact on implantation or development. Obviously I'm not saying go out and get off your face but a couple of glasses of something- it's just not going to do anything detrimental. If you look at the reasons for not drinking during pregnancy it's for things like Fetal Alcohol Syndrome- the bulk of the damage caused to the fetus is done at 10-20 weeks gestation and it's attributed to women who binge drink/ have alcohol problems.

Besides- think of all those women out there who aren't properly TTC and fall pregnant without knowing it and overhauling their entire lives.... If the wine normalises TTC then drink a couple of glasses of the wine. This rubbish will take over your life if you let it and let me tell you- that's NO fun... :o

Our FS told my OH that drink will affect his sperm quality- it takes 3 months to produce sperm from scratch so he's 4 weeks into not drinking. I don't drink in general as I am a total lightweight (had a glass of Pimms for the national and was pretty tipsy...) but he told me to make sure I keep my alcohol intake within the daily recommended limit- he wasn't a fan of the idea of 'pooling' your daily units to have a blow out... He was of the mind a little in moderation will do no harm.

I have my millionth ultrasound tomorrow (weird day for a hospital appointment...) to size my uterus, check if it's unicornuate or bicornuate and to see how many kidneys I have. I can already feel the anxiety ramping up... If it's too small then I'm out. Totally out. I don't fancy my odds either- they've not been great this far... :/ Good job I went to the doctors again today- I'm going to actually use this prescription though rather than bin it... :o
