Trying for a Baby Part 9

I had my scan this morning. It confirmed exactly what I didn't want it to. I have a right unicornuate uterus (UU). On the bright side I have both kidneys... I keep getting told by OHs mum (she's a midwife) that she's 'delivered loads' of babies from women who didn't know they had UU. It really frustrates me as *those* women clearly have been able to conceive easily enough to not have to undergo fertility investigations so it's a completely pointless reassurance. I've been in bits all day. I saw it on the screen in glorious 3D and it looks so small and disgusting. I feel less of a woman which sounds stupid but there you go. I don't think they'll let me have clomid now- having seen the u/s operators rubbish poker face I don't hold out much hope for a good conclusion to this.0

Tea cake - so is it now a case of finding out if the size is ok -As if women who have uu have had babies then it doesn't mean you can't? Are you going to have an MRI scan for more detail? Or do you have to wait for a full report of what you had done today?
The only positive I can try to put on it for you is that those women your ohs mum knew didn't know, and yes their babies were ok but if you do know upfront then as soon as you do get pregnant you can present yourself for early monitoring etc
And if its not affecting their ability to conceive then why shouldn't they give you clomid.
Do you have any one with a similar story on that website who had a successful pregnancy?
I so hope you do get a positive outcome.0 -
Hugs tea I'm sorry it's not the outcome you wanted and I know that it is an added obstacle you could do without but hopefully when your doctor has had a chance to look at your results they can come back to you with some idea of where you go from here xxx.
Ill go back to reading and lurking now waiting to ov in a long cycle is soooooo boring but I believe I get to Poas for my new monitor tomorrow so yay!
Hugs to all x0 -
I don't think they'll do an MRI as the scan was pretty conclusive that it's UU. I was in that much of a flap that I totally forgot to ask what size it was so that'll be what the next appointment will reveal. That's in May so it'll just be a case of trying not to drive myself up the wall.
I don't think they'll give clomid as I think it's too small. I also think that clomid won't help when considering the UU and OH's SA results. I know I don't know anything for certain but it looked tiny- especially comparing it to normal uterus scans. I don't think they'll be able to offer anything or any treatment. That's my gut instinct. The u/s operator had a rubbish poker face and kept wishing me well but with a look on her face... I think if the *only* reassuring thing they can say is that 'at least you have two kidneys' then it doesn't look great.
The website does have positive stories but it's probably a 50/50 split. The women who didn't know they were UU until birth or breach presentation all had normal pregnancies and conceived easily. The women who knew in advance seem to have a terrible time conceiving and either deliver early (very early in some cases)/ require caesarian's or lose the pregnancy (apparently late term loses are a lot more common with UU).
I know if pregnancy ever happens I'll be monitored closely- I just have serious doubts that it will ever happen.0 -
