does you receipt say address checked?
the juxtaposition f RMs rules on correct addresses(regarding claims) and a COP with incorrect details is interesting

I am not sure what you have just said, but my receipt does say Address Validated: N

This is an interesting thread, i was under the impression that SD could not be left with neighbours, and had to be delivered to the address on the parcel, or picked up in person by the named recipient.

    Thats right. except for collection
anyone can as long as they have the acceptable ID for the recipient

This is the thing, I don't know weather the operator is saying to me that its been left with a neighbor based on the address i'm saying it should have gone to, or weather the delivery driver actually said those words, although I do know the delivery driver said he had trouble with the address when he was interviewed.

I just tried to edit my post but it didn't work. grrr

The post office software is set up to only validate addresses sent by parcel Force. There is no option to validate addresses of parcels sent by RD / SD.

The address validation was switched off for all services other than Parcelforce. It made the systems too slow.

Parcelforce requires it as the item is delivered from the address that we select (i.e. the barcode holds the delivery information).

Forgive me if i'm wrong OP, but could the mistake be yours??
Address on your reciept says number 270 which you say is incorrect.
Address the post man tried to delivered to number 270.

The reciept you are given at the post office is your proof of posting, and the post man delivers to the address on the parcel.

Regarding the postcode, these are very often written incorrectly.

If a postman tried to deliver a parcel to you, in your name with your house number but an incorrect postcode.........would you refuse to accept it on the grounds that the postcode was incorrect?

Not only would the postcode be wrong the name would also be wrong, as the person at number 270 would not have the same name as the person in 207, of course if could be my mistake but I can 100% say that I checked and double checked considering its a 600£ laptop. the delivery driver himself has quoted he had trouble understanding the address which it would also appear the post office clerk had the same problems but you would think if there was any doubt the post man would double check and not deliver it to any number 270 even if the postcode is completely different to the parcel, that at least is one thing my receipt can back up in my favor. the postcode!

Ok the 48 hour investigation appears to have finished and the delivery driver says he delivered it to the neighbor (Even though the item was special delivery) and the neighbor says she passed it on to the intended recipient and the RM operator told me even if the driver could not understand the parcel he doubts he can deliver it to the wrong postcode.

I have now contacted the buyer and told him the above.

Which way can you guys see this swinging if the buyer insists he doesn't have the item and it gets to a dispute, where I can provide Paypal with the following.

1.Tracking Information with a Signature and recipients name printed in computer text.

    2. A scanned receipt that has a clerical error, but the clerical and postcode do not match up therefore according to RM they would not have delivered the item if the postcode was wrong.

    3. I can also provide them with the RM contact number and and the operators name and reference number who I have been speaking to who can back-up what I have said above.

    Thanks in advance.

(p.s) is it fine for items to be sent recorded delivery according to Paypal? because if this is true then recorded delivery items can be left with a neighbor under Royal Mail)
