Ok continuing from where I left off, I spoke to RM today and they said the driver was unsure of the address on the parcel and ended up leaving a SPECIAL DELIVERY parcel with one of the neighbors. They also said they would not have delivered the item to a postcode that does not exist (in that door number) so it must have gone to the neighbor of the correct recipient who claimed she passed it onto the buyer.

I then asked if a special delivery is allowed to "just be passed" to a neighbor of an address that the delivery driver thinks might be the correct address?

    She replied, NO.

well they havent followed their procedures
so i would be asking them to retrieve the item as the intended recipient/address has not received the item

I spoke to them again today and they seem to have now twisted it.

stored on the system it says "I thought It was the wrong address but I ended up leaving it with number 270" now I don't know if he actually says "I left it with a Neighbor at 270" or weather the operator is just using the word "neighbor" to explain to me that it hasn't gone to the address I stated. Never the less the neighbor at number 270 has a different postcode to the one on my receipt.

Also I can't be 100% but I thought the Royal Mail person said that they have spoken to the "Neighbor" and she says she sent the parcel onto its intended recipient. which if I confirm this would surly mean Paypal will cover me if I ask them to get in touch with Royal Mail?

Also as for the posters in the thread who are claiming not to show PP a receipt can you explain in detail what you mean because it seems like different posters are saying different things.

    Thanks.

Well there seems to be disagreement on that, the only way you'll find out is if the buyer opens an eBay or Paypal INR and eBay/PP either do or don't ask you for the receipt.

Have you asked the buyer to check with his neighbours?

Maybe the original buyer did receive the parcel and signed for it and is now trying to claim he/she didn't receive it? Why don't you post him a link to the RM website where it shows the signature. Perhaps someone else in the household signed for it? All sounds a bit weird to me. Besides, it was delivered and you would win a case with Paypal to show tracking and signature.

Thanks for your reply, the only problem at the minute is when I track it on RM website it only shows the time of delivery, printed name (in computer text) and a signature, although I do remember A few days ago when I checked the tracking it showed it was sent from my post office to the sorting office in his city/area but I can't seem to find that page of information anymore, only Signature, printed computer name, and time of delivery as I have mentioned above.

Also I have sent him the link to RM a while back and he said to me "it's down as delivered but I have not received anything.

Yes I asked him to go around to number 270 and check, A day later he emailed me saying number 270 did not have it.

Thanks for your replies, appreciate them.

That is standard for RMs tracking
    why would you need more?
you already know the PO sent from

    however if you want
    http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails

now with regard to the delivery
there is no 'guessing' with RM and SD
if they couldnt successfully deliver it due to address issues, then it should have been returned
now I know the reality is that many SDs are delivered with the wrong address, but that doesnt matter here
however the issue with your COP and the wrong address will cause you an issue
to confirm. does your COP have the postcode for 207 or 270?

My receipt says 270 (the wrong door number) although the postcode on the receipt does not match that of the door number for 270, so there has been a mix up along the line somewhere.

Can I just thank you so much for that link, exactly what I was looking for. ( I wanted that link to prove to paypal if need be that it was going to the area in question, which can bee seen by the sorting office, even if it doesn't show the exact address).

Any more info you can give would be appreciated, thanks.

does you receipt say address checked?
the juxtaposition f RMs rules on correct addresses(regarding claims) and a COP with incorrect details is interesting

This is an interesting thread, i was under the impression that SD could not be left with neighbours, and had to be delivered to the address on the parcel, or picked up in person by the named recipient.
