Just eat - don't use them as they're a bit s**t

Ordered a takeaway tonight which should have arrived at 10pm. No sign by 11pm so phoned up the takeaway. They said that they had no record of my order. I said I ordered it via the just eat website and they replied with "we recommend you don't use just eat as they're a bit s**t"
It's a refreshingly honest customer service experience! I just hope just eat refund my £20!

Prices on Just Eat tend to be higher than if you go direct as well....0

We use them all the time (and also Hungry House). They are not a bit s**t. You'll find it's the takeaway that are telling fibs!
When a takeaway uses the Just Eat service they are sent a small credit card device to process the orders. When you place your order it prints off a summary of the order placed, the customer & where it's to. The takeaway has to confirm or refuse the order at this point. This is what it's doing at the point of the "contacting restaurant and waiting for chef to accept". Obviously the takeaway accepted the order and then couldn't be arsed dealing with it and lied about it.
Don't get me wrong, things have gone wrong but the issues I've had have all been takeaway issues. Missing food, cold food etc. After we have an issue like this if it's not a regular takeaway, we'll move onto a different outlet and try their food instead.0 -
The restaurant has obviously had a falling out with Just Eat and aren't honouring any orders through them and then telling customers that! I'd inform Just Eat and explain what's happened! I'm sure they'll give you a refund0

Everytime I've used one of these ordering services I've had a bad experience, orders not recieved, wrong order, listing a restaurant that doesnt deliver..
Wouldnt use any of them again. Just deal with the takeaway direct, its really not that much hassle.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

I used the new iPhone app which bypasses the contacting restaurant part.
The woman at the takeaway said a few people had phoned up to complain so something was going wrong with the process last night!
I think I'll avoid both the takeaway and just eat for a while. I'll give hungry house a go for a bit! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I've found that some local takeaways don't like accepting orders from Just Eat if you use a promo code. Not only do the restaurants discount but they have to pay xx% of the order value to Just Eat. They normally decline the order as too far to deliver. The man without a signature.0

I've never had a problem weirdly enough. Sometimes it is just the fault of the restaurant.0

Another positive comment for Just Eat here. Never had any problems with them; any delays/issues were the fault of the takeaway and not the site.
Our fave Chinese (always order through JE with them) has never let us down, even with promo codes etc. Driver actually told BF that JE cover the cost of the promo code, though obviously the takeaway still pays whatever % to them. Driver reckoned that about 1/4 of his deliveries were prepaid through JE.
Hungry House, on the other hand, charged me twice two times in a row... Got an apology and a voucher, but never again...0 -

I've also used them without problem. I'm afraid this is another of those "Something went wrong for me once so no one ever use these people again" threads.0 -

I use JE a lot, and have only ever had three issues which were all to do with the takeaways themselves. The JE platform seems relatively stable and works, but there's no accounting for !!!! individuals at the end of the process.
Hungry house on the other hand seem to have issues every other week. Did you see their facebook drama last week?0
