I use JE a lot, and have only ever had three issues which were all to do with the takeaways themselves. The JE platform seems relatively stable and works, but there's no accounting for !!!! individuals at the end of the process.

Hungry house on the other hand seem to have issues every other week. Did you see their facebook drama last week?

    Nope what was that?

I've also used them without problem. I'm afraid this is another of those "Something went wrong for me once so no one ever use these people again" threads.

Nope it's not. You want to read it again as its obviously a bit too clever for you ;)

Agreed - tried them several times - always been useless and let me down. Customer service non existent.

They dont save me money, I know my local businesses, they are an unnecessary middleman. One of the few internet companies I have tried and been completely disappointed with.

lots of people complaining that orders were cancelled/rejected but money was taken (probably ringfenced in fairness so not really gone). They are accused of knowing of their server issues, but keeping the site live anyway allowing for lots of people to be out of pocket and hungry.

Interestingly it looks like some comments were removed as when I saw it on saturday, there were a couple of hundred comments...

I'll just avoid using them and cook a healthy meal instead.

    Completely agree.

As you say, totally unnecessary middle man, I have a little folder in the kitchen with a few menus from the local takeaways, on the odd occasion we order something I pick up the phone and order it "the old fashioned way"

I've never had any problems ordering direct with takeaways but have had several problems when going through these ordering services.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

Never had a problem tbh. The good/keen restaurants make a real effort so they get good ratings and become default choice for that 'speciality food' in the given area imo.

The other advantage is paying online on card rather than having to rifle through change to ensure you have enough cash+/- tip.

When you submit your order you get a confirmation notification and an estimated time of delivery iirc.

Just Eat is fine until something goes wrong. The website regards itself as just an agent, so refuses to refund if your delivery turns up inedible and/or incomplete unless the restaurant agrees. There is no goodwill. Just Eat will never take your side.

Hungry House has a much less robust website - I've abandoned orders a few times to technical difficulties - but its customer service is excellent. The service agents always listen and offer credit where there has been a problem.

Now, if only the Just Eat website and Hungry House service could be combined!

We've used them a few times and never had problems with deliveries.

When we've had problems with the order or undercooked food JE have always stepped in and refunded the entire order and dealt with the restaurant on our behalf, so I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.
