Not all of them are skanky take aways. My favourite dim sum restaurant, about a mile away do take away orders but they don't deliver, so JE is perfect for it. It's cheaper than getting the bus there and back. The only other option is walking back and it getting cold!

Just Eat deliver it, the restaurant itself doesn't have any delivery drivers.

Just eat are a website, and ONLY a website. They have no delivery drivers. The place you are ordering from deliver it to you.

Nothing wrong with Just Eat at all.
If your order doesn't come, or is wrong - that's the takeaway's fault because they actually have to accept the order before you'll be charged or receive confirmation.
If the food is a little more expensive, that's because the takeaway have chosen to apply a higher price via. Just Eat (I'm assuming they take some cut/commission/etc.).
If you want something to complain about Just Eat: the fact they charge for card transactions would be about your only avenue: and you really don't have an argument there either.
We use them because the takeaways we like don't accept cards over the phone, and we can't be a**ed to walk to the cashpoint.

If you use the iPhone app you don't get the confirmation step. It just goes through as accepted as default. I suspect this is where the problem was on my order

Ah maybe it's hungry house that do that restaurant then lol. I know for a fact the restaurant don't deliver themselves. But I've used Just Eat for other take aways, that's why I'm getting confused!

Yeah they don't have delivery drivers either. I'm intrigued who you are using as I've often thought there could be a market for a delivery company who just picks up food from local takeaways/restaurants that don't normally deliver.

I do hope the day soon comes when the major supermarkets start to open "takeaways" under disguised brands so that we can finally rid our towns of the proliferation of cockroach takeaways. At least then there would be higher standards of food hygiene and quality. Only the best indoes would survive...like the excellent local Chinese which has a spotless kitchen,on show to the public, and provides excellent service and quality.

Why do you think that competition between a supermarket-run takeaway would work, but competition between existing independent takeawyas doesn't.

Maybe the reason those 'cockroach takeaways' survive is that people keep buying from them.

Or maybe you've just got a warped view and the majority of takeaways have pretty good hygiene.

You can see the hygiene rating of any takeaway quite easily on the FSA website. Plus I believe they are meant to display their rating instore. Personally I won't go to a takeaway with a rating below 3.

As an update. Just Eat did charge me for the order (despite saying they wouldn't). I phoned them up this morning and they have refunded me.

However they refused to do so until they had listened to my call on Friday proving that the CSA had said I would be refunded.

Not massively impressed with them. I don't think I would trust them with card payments again. I'll stick to cash only going forward (which is often easier just phoning the takeaway direct)

It's Dim Sum House in Golders Green.

When you order take away it redirects to hungry house, but if you phone them up they wont deliver! And I'm sure the delivery driver has Hungry House branding. Maybe it's just in London or cities

This is interesting. There may be a specific deal with Hungry House over delivery with that restaurant. Do you have to pay for the delivery or is it free over a certain amount?

You can't always trust the branding the delivery drivers have as they often have Just Eat bags and a hat on. However I know they are the normal delivery guys they just change the hat for a Just Eat Order.

Yeah I have to pay for delivery. Don't know if there's a free delivery over a certain amount. But I've had to pay for it when paying for a £25 order before
