    If Airline bust=no claim
Then why is Martin Lewis saying you can claim from your credit card company if you paid by credit card?

    He's absolutely right.

You can make what's known as a 'Section 75 claim' against the credit card company.

Do a bit of research online and you'll see what needs to be done.
  • Travelling as a family of 4, we were delayed on a Monarch flight to Mahon in 2011, for ten hours, for technical reasons. I was given 2 x 100 pound monarch flight vouchers on return, after a couple of email complaints. Does this mean that the case is closed, or can I now go back to claim the balance compensation that I had not realised was due?

So long as you didn't expressly accept them as full settlement of a claim, I don't see an issue here: you would otherwise argue that the vouchers were offered as a goodwill gesture, with no admission of liability from the airline.
  • I was convinced a flight I took last year was delayed > 3 hours, however, upon checking flightstats.co.uk it appears the flight was registered as being 170mins late - 2hrs and 50mins. Is it worth making a claim, or will this be disregarded? I've a feeling this might have been changed slightly to suit the airline - flight 610 EasyJet, 30/08/12 at 4:45pm - left 7:42pm.

    Any opinions?
  • I've double checked the times with my own data provider and it also says the delay was < 3 hours.

Unfortunately you won't be able to claim.
  • In theory, would a security issue causing a delay on the inbound flight, having the knock on affect on delaying my flight (which was then further delayed as our flight picked up stranded passengers elsewhere as a 'rescue flight'), according to Eglitis et al, be ineligible for compensation? I cannot fathom the language used to decipher if it is for/against!

Anyone been in a similar case who can elaborate is it's yay e/c or nay?
  • Hi all, I got a mail from Easyjet saying that my return flight from Bristol to Copenhagen in two months is cancelled. After reading their terms and conditions it seems like I get no compensation at all since the airline cancelled it more than two weeks ahead. All I can get is either rebook to a new flight or have a refund, is this correct?

I was hoping for at least some compensation as there isn't any other flights that day so either I have to stay one more night in Bristol or catch a train to London to get a flight from there to Copenhagen instead.
I do know that two months ahead is a long time but it isn't much help when there isn't any more flights that day :(
    Thanks in advance!

EU compensation applies if you are given less than 2 weeks notice. You should also have the choice of being rerouted but probably on that route there will be limited alternatives
  • Hi There, Fairly new on these Forums. Please bare with me.

After being delayed by Monarch on the 27th August 2013 from Manchester to Crete (for 8hrs). I've now put my Claim into Monarch and awaiting a reply (28 days) Hoping for 800 euros compo

Ive realised that I might be able to claim for another late Flight going Back to 2008. Again Flying out from Manchester to Crete.
The Flight was with Air Malta
BUT......Here's the tricky bit, This flight was a Charter to Xl who of course went Bust in Sept 2008

Can I still put a claim into Air Malta ? Even though I didn't actually book through them ?

From what Ive read on MSE and Which etc its the Airline's fault not the Holiday company/travel agent.

Please Note That the Air Malta Flight was not affected by the collapse of Xl it still had its own Itinary. This flight was not cancelled as it was not an Xl plane or Flight. When we got to Heraklion Airport we were told that the Flight was not affected by the collapse of Xl but due to Technical difficulties they were taking us all to a near by hotel. We were given a Room,Free Lunch, and a Pool too laze by( They weren't sure if the plane was going to be available that day) 6 hrs later, may be more, we all piled back on the bus and went back to the airport.

I at present Have no deatils of that flight other than my Bank statement showing payment to XL........oh and some photos of the Hotel and Pool.(if anyone can help with the flight no. date etc please let me know)I have a fairly good idea that Air Malta Will drop me from 37500ft !

However is it worth trying ?? :) or should I buy a parachute ??

    Thanks :rotfl:
