FAQ's to flight delay compensation queries

I at present Have no deatils of that flight other than my Bank statement showing payment to XL........oh and some photos of the Hotel and Pool.(if anyone can help with the flight no. date etc please let me know)
You are going to have to do some legwork using Flightstats (info in the FAQs)...if you have an approximate earliest date you can check each day going forwards but I would not be surprised if there are a number of delayed dates0 -
Hi there Am looking for some info regarding my delayed flight in June and what to put in my letter. We took off and birds flew into the engine. They damaged the blades and ended up up waiting in the airport for 8 hours to be out up in a hotel for 6 hours at night then a further 12 hours the next day.
Any hep would be great0 -
Post on the thread relevant to the airline

start with the FAQs for that thread and read the posts, there will be others that have been through similar scenarios0 -
I started my claim against Qantas on 6 August 2013 and now (20 September 2013) I have £2140 compensation for a flight to HK in July 2008.
At first Qantas were a bit slow as they don’t seem to respond to letters sent to their UK business address, but after I emailed their contact centre (presumably in Australia) with copies of the initial letter and flight itinerary, I got a positive response. Clearly Qantas have records of flight delays going back to 2008 and they understand their obligations under this EU legislation. I did have to provide card details for the refund as Qantas would not make a BACS payment or send out a cheque.
Good on them and we will be travelling with them again if possible. In fact I remember the whole family were upgraded to Business from Premium Economy on a subsequent leg of the same holiday, which was a real treat. Well done and thanks to MSE for posting our rights and helping my family get this windfall.
Good Luck to everyone else.0 -
Has anyone had updates regarding claim via CAA? I submitted my enquiry to them November 12.I received a response in January stating they would reply in approximately 20 weeks. I have contacted them since and was advised to refrain from non essential contact regarding the claim including requests for an update on the status of your file. Anyone else any reply?0

Oh the triumph of hope over expectation!
The CAA have largely washed their hands of these claims, as far as I can tell. Having agreed new guidelines, they are asking airlines to reassess claims against these. Of course, airlines continue to reject ...
There have been lots of posts on this forum about the ineffectiveness of the CAA, unfortunately. Only court action is likely to get you your compensation.0 -

Tells you all you need to know about their interest in protecting consumers. I would have thought their workload was going down given the evidence of people posting here that they are of no help whatsoever.
If you could be bothered, I'd write to the transport and consumer affairs ministers. Also, I would seriously consider writing to Dame Deirdre Hutton, the Chair of the CAA. Their website says "Our responsibilities include the: ...Enforcement of consumer protection rules around issues like cancelled flight". The response you have had is unacceptable.0 -
A further update on Multiple claimants - After filling in form N244 to add my husband and two children as claimants and sending off my £80, I've had a notice of a hearing today for 6 weeks time. I thought it was to hear my case but no, just to add them to my claim! Seems an absolute waste of time to have a hearing just to add names to an application. The Court staff didn't mention a hearing when I rang to ask how to add parties after being directed to do so by the Judge following TC defence that I could not include them in my claim. They just said to fill in form N244 and send £80. I ticked the 'without hearing box' too. But to no avail. Now I have to take an afternoon off work, pay for childcare and fuel for the 60 mile round trip. Not a happy bunny.
Advice to anyone making a claim for more than just themselves - INCLUDE ALL PASSENGERS NAMES IN CLAIMANTS BOX - despite what MCOL advised me, it isn't enough to just name yourself as lead passenger and mention the other members of your party in the statement of particulars.
And if you can't get all the names in the claimants box then don't use MCOL, use from N1 https://hmctsformfinder.justice.gov....s/n001-eng.pdf0 -

"on the topic of your Application, we can confirm that our client will provide their consent to the same only on the basis that all of your costs attributable to this Application are borne by the Claimant and not the Defendant. You may wish to advise the Court that the Defendant will provide this consent (on the conditions aforementioned) and should you intend to file a Consent Order for such purposes we would ask that we are provided with a copy of the same to consider and sign".
Anyone had this or offer some advice please?0 -
