Deflate the housing bubble by outlawing companies and 3rd party ownership of UK property. Any property that gets domestic rates has to be owned by an individual and will then become an asset subject to tax when they die.

That should discourage landlords and buy to let speculators and allow first time buyers to have a chance at owning a property.

Cap the pensions paid to government employees to £60k. Use that excess to subsidise payments for lower paid government workers.

At the moment many doctors and senior civil servants can get pensions of over £100k, some even over £150k, index linked for life.
  • End the system of sentencing and remission for good behaviour. Implement full sentencing with remission for public work only (there is plenty needs doing)! One day work = 1 day remission. More essential work done less money spent on keeping convicts in lap of luxury.
  • End the ridiculous system whereby anyone employing a carer for an elderly or disabled person has to contribute Employer Contributions. This money comes out of already very depleted personal savings, and is is not a business making any money, only spending it!
  • should it not be mandatory that a person over say 70 should have a case worker, to check on their basic needs, and current well being, who could set up a support group for current household issues, Trainee social workers or councillors could be used as part of their training.

Or recruit redundant police officers, and form a new social department for the care of the elderly,
It can be done for transport in the form of the Highways (agency) department.
My father at 91 sees no one, only when we ask for the doctor or district nurse, still as to sort his daily on going bills etc.
  • There are many couples, including pensioners who have only one main income source, which is taxed, the other partner has an allowance, which isn’t/cant be used. If they apply for benefits their combined gross income and savings are taken into account and they do not quite qualify. The government should allow couples to use their combined income tax allowance this could reduce the numbers applying for benefits and also remove some from being so close to the poverty line.

Stop winter fuel Payments and give out renewable energy sources such as windmills or solar panels instead.

Sort out the supermarkets. The big four have been allowed to get too big. The pricing structures are ridiculous. The contamination is a worry. Bring back rationing for the obese.

Ask the energy companies to subsidise poor families to give out solar panels and windmills instead of grants or money charity.

Under occupied bedroom tax should be for everybody not just council houses as part of the council tax system they already have. It will reduce all the stately home people, politicians with their second homes, and rich with their mansions and multiple homes, holiday homes, empty-nester's being under occupied and then may solve the housing shortages and stop building on green belt. The country has to work with the resources it has already.
