Aye aye Captain, hindsight must be a wonderful thing and only wished I had it stuck rolling around in the clover all day long.

I don't think you understand, the Musa hydro models have their certification back. In the last couple of weeks my company has fitted three all of which are claiming rhi.

We fit them because they are the best Boiler/stove on the market and because they are eligible for the RHI

The old certificate has been withdrawn and a new certification number has been issued, you are not looking at the whole picture.

  • Well, in this farce where black is white and white is black and everything else is 50 shades of grey it is sadly obvious that a MCS certificate and RHI payments are not linked as they should have been. I indeed highlighted some time ago how I was encouraged to make my claim for the RHI payments even after my stove was removed and I was heating with oil.

We are merely concerned here with the original product having obtained certification without undergoing full and proper testing that the very certification implied it had as a bare minimum undertaken.

Maybe you wish to buy my scrap one off me then if they are so good, I was to put it on ebay at 99p but guess you are happy to offer me several thousand for it now.
  • Just as I thought no rush to buy, you have no confidence in the old, faulty ,NON CERTIFIED product that has led to this farce and ultimate attempts at extraction by MCZ and MCS etc with a new product SIMILAR to the old one but certainly NOT in any ones eyes IDENTICAL. It has undergone safety modifications, bears the same name as the old just to confuse yet bears a different certification code. This in no way points to an original product fit for purpose or one that should ever have worn a badge of certification luring the gullible into installing this provably dangerous product into their homes. To this day MCS have yet to inform the original customers of their findings and even Specflue appear in the dark as to how they are to resolve these owners issues in the 3 months allocated.

The sword of righteousness is a long way from returning to it scabbard.

Once bitten twice shy anyone, I no longer have a horse in the race or even one in the stables though luckily my stables are still there no thanks to MCZ and MCS.

Still think I work for Klover? You need to be barking a lot closer to home than that Captain!!

I too am waiting for Specflue, I called them twice and got fobbed off both times, firstly a couple of weeks ago with "letters will be sent out next week" and the week after with "we're in discussions with MCZ". While waiting on hold, the recorded message says something about "exceeding expectations". They do have an online hepldesk, if you search for heatweb you'll find it and be able to log a ticket.

Kitty, I don't know what's up with your stove, mine is working fine. By the sound of things, maybe the flue that's been installed has a few too many bends & joints in it.

Work to install a biomass boiler at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness will start at the beginning of September.
The wood pellet boilers, which are being installed by Weiss, a specialist company from Denmark, will provide up to 80% of the hospitals heating and hot water demand and will work alongside the existing ageing Raigmore boilers.
Once up and running, the new installation will save the hospital about £1m a year on energy costs.
The engineering design and development of this project has been carried out by NHS Highland Estates Department and Sustainable Energy Ltd, who have offices in Cardiff & Dundee.
John Hornby, Capital Planning Manager for NHS Highland, explained that a lot of work needs to happen on site before the boiler can be installed.
He said: “Before we can even bring the new boiler on site work needs to be done to build a new boiler house. This work, which is being done by NRS Group from Livingston, will start next week and will take about four months to complete.
“We also need to build new flues into the existing chimney stack. Schiedel from Tyne & Wear have been carrying out this work with the first phase completed earlier this year when the redundant incinerator flue pipe was removed to make space for the new flues.
“The boiler plant is scheduled to be arrive from Denmark on the 26th November and will be lifted into place over a five to seven day period.”
Mr Hornby explained that the installation and integration of the new boiler and its associated plant, will start at the beginning of 2014. It is hoped to have the system commissioned and up and running by the end of April 2014.
Once fully operational it is expected that Raigmore Hospital will show a 40% reduction in carbon emissions and NHS Highland as a whole will show a 20% reduction, making this one of the most environmentally significant projects in Inverness.
Mr Hornby said: “This is a huge project in more ways than one. It has taken over 18 months to plan. The completed works will have cost a little under £3million to complete but this cost will be recovered very quickly by the savings made on reduced fossil fuel usage and Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) payments.”
The two boilers and furnaces weigh in at 55tons each and are almost 7m high. In addition there is a feed water tank at 20tons, an accumulator vessel at 15 tons and two cyclonic flue gas bag filter units at 10ton each which stand at 8m high. Externally there will be two pellet storage silos at 40ton each and 13m high.
Mr Hornby explained that during the boiler house construction and plant delivery periods it is expected that there will be some disruption to traffic flow in and around the Raigmore Hospital site, particularly at the boiler house location. The contractor will provide all necessary traffic management systems and every attempt will be made to keep disruption to an absolute minimum.
He said: “We would ask for everyone’s patience while these works are ongoing and I’d like to thank them in advance for their cooperation.
“It’s an exciting and extremely challenging project to be involved in and it will be something of a relief to see work started on site and more of a relief to see the contract completed and fully operational.
“This will provide NHS Highland with massive savings on our energy running costs whilst at same time meeting government directives and objectives.”
    Ends
    Further information
    • The funding came from the Scottish Government under the carbon reduction programme for the NHS.
    • Sustainable Energy were selected in conjunction with the carbon trust because of their speciality and experience of such installations
    • Renewable Heat Incentive - The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is the world’s first long-term financial support programme for renewable heat. Launched in November 2011 it is a scheme for the non-domestic sector that provides payments to industry, businesses and public sector organisations that generate and use renewable energy to heat their buildings.
    • Plans of the biomass installation are available

Still experienced an explosion yesterday as the picture shows,so not just the small ones having a problem.Must call them and see if they want a Clover but guess they may be happy burning oil on the old system and funded from the RHI payments

I thought everyone might like to know that Specflue now have an approved fix and are in a position to start fitting it to stoves. Why they've not been seen back here to update everyone I don't know. I suggest that anyone who's interested gives them a call or raises a ticket on Heatweb.

I got rid of my musa hydro, a lot of tarring, not that efficient and of course that safety problem. I had the new version fitted together with the hot water kit, external timer and hall thermostat. Just in time to get 90% of the full cost back over 7 years, via RHI

It is a world apart from the old one, quiet, much cleaner, no visible tar, efficient and produces masses of hot water when asked. I have programmed the ch timer to come on 3 times a day and it links to the hall thermostat, yesterday and today it came on for an hour or so and I came down to a lovely warm living area. :T The timer was programmed for two hours but the thermostat kicked in. The old one always had to be manually switched off. This version with the add ons will be so much more cost effective

It was a big decision for me and I had my fingers crossed, the installer did a wonderful job and I now have minimal easy cleaning and a quiet efficient heating system
