Just had an email from the Ombudsman that Coop have agreed to cancel the switch with no exit penalties! Huzzah! :)
What does 'cancel the switch' mean? Will your account be returned to your previous supplier? Who will you have to pay for the energy which you have used during the time you have been with the Co-op?

I assume that I will have to pay for the energy used.
I have already put wheels in motion to switch to another supplier.

Hopefully you know how much you owe! It may well be some considerable time before Co-op Energy deal with the switch and send you a final bill...

I have a ball park figure.
Fingers crossed they don't mess this up too!

It would be better if you knew the start dates and the start meter readings for each fuel, and also the tariff prices. You would then be able to calculate a precise cost. My personal opinion is that trying to switch away from Co-op at this point in time is likely to cause you even more grief than you already have. Put the money aside, and wait to see what happens!

  • Hello all,

I would like advice re: what my options are regarding my partially completed switch to Co op Energy. I had applied in February via Cheap energy club to switch to Fair and Square May 2016. Electricity was switched around July 8th and gas switch remains outstanding. A few calls to customer care have been along the predictable lines of "Yes we know about you, we will look into this, it should take a few days/weeks". Apologies in advance that I have not trawled through earlier pages of this forum for similar cases, but is there a time limit of any sort for these switches to take place within? I have not yet received any bills, but undoubtedly the electricity bill will be forthcoming soon, at the level of predicted dual fuel use. I do really want to switch to another provider, even back to EDF, my previous/current provider, who are soooo much more responsive. Any thoughts would be welcome!!

Post 396 is good advise and the F & S May 2016 is an excellent tariff

    I would echo boobbby's comments.

A lot of people are in the same boat as you - my electricity has just switched, long after the gas, and I have yet to receive any bills. If you can register your meter reading(s), and your DDs are being taken, my personal feelings are that you should sit tight. I think moving away, in the short term, will bring down more "stuff" on your head.

i surposedly left coop a couple of months ago i tried to log into my account but couldnt has they had changed the logging in details so i rang and dmanded an itemised bill but heard nothing they just keep you on hold for ages then just give you a load of toss just when are they going to be sorted out has im sure they owe me a lot of money which is all adding to there big pay packets enough is enough
  • Thanks boobbby and bellandbottle.

Co-op emailed me back to say that they might have the wrong gas meter number for my address?! I have sent them pictures of my meter as requested.

I have never been asked for a meter number when switching previously. It's even more odd considering Co-op was supplying me (via the same "unknown" gas meter) prior to me switching to EDF last year!!

I will sit tight for now but can anyone explain why the switching process taken months to many many months? I assume there is no physical work/labour involved.
