The company is a money making machine. My dad signed up and had the same problems. We have now sorted it but this is what I suggest. First of all, call your bank and cancel the card. Talk to the fraud department. Ketone will try to charge you again (My dad got it twice). They will most likely have heard about the company by now. At the start, dad found it hard to convince the banks that all was not right but by the end the bank had received information from various sources and knew exactly what was going on. I would think they all know now - if you talk to the fraud department of your bank. With your card cancelled, the company can't take any more money if you have cancelled the product.
If you cancelled the order and received confirmation of that, and then they charged you again, the bank should immediately refund you. If they won't or are being cagey, go further up the food chain.
Don't try calling the Ketone company - it's a waste of time as they want you to call 3 separate numbers, each with a long waiting time, and no doubt each charging you a premium.
The company are breaking the law on several fronts, one being that for online selling they must provide a proper address and not a PO box I believe.
In the end, the bank refunded Dad completely - £150 - and will chase Ketone to get their money back.
At one point I emailed Ketone to cancel the order (I found a link on a forum - might have been on MSE) and dad had the confirmation. What I find odd was that some time later my twitter account was hacked and it appeared I was sending out tweets about how marvellous this stuff was!! I don't use my twitter account really and have only a couple of friends on it, so no real harm done there, but it does alarm me. This company seems to be like !!!!! on your shoes; difficult to get rid of.

If you haven't yet cancelled but have just found out to your horror that they are charging you, cancel online immediately, and send everything you have left back to the company. Their burb said you would get a full refund if you were unhappy and sent the unused stuff back. A free trial should be a free trial by law, so they can't charge you for the first lot as long as you cancelled in 14 days. I think they might be slow sending the stuff out so you don't notice the 14 days. If you cancel after 14 you will at least stop them charging you every couple of weeks. At worst you might lose the first payment, but I think the banks have cottoned on to this company and will give you the full refund and claw back from Ketone - there are various technical points they can get them on - the PO address, the fact that the t&C were at the very bottom of the page but the submit button was half way up so you didn't notice or read them - most companies get you to tick a box to say you've read them before allowing you to proceed. But do cancel your card if the bank are not being as quick or responsive as they should be.

Not the old stop the card again.....

It does NOT work... Search out Visa Account updater.... The can/will simply request the new card number...

it is not fraud. you gave the company the card details and agreed to their T/C.

How are you supposed to cancel with them then. How do you get a refund?

Yes. Why should the bank believe you?
After all, you did give the company your card details voluntarily, didn't you?

    Yes they are......

Banks know all about these companies. And how to deal with them.

By lying you are commiting 1st party fraud. Which if proved will mean you account being closed and a marker being placed against you making it very hard to open any other accounts.

  • Yep, I also have fallen victim, and I even read the t&c's!! I knew that if I don't return at least 50% of the product within 14 days, I will be charged the full amount. My problem is now I'm scared that I will be charged continuously and not be able to get free of the contractual agreement.
I rang my bank, Bank of Ireland, and they also know of the scam, yet for me to stop future payments, I have to provide them with proof that I have returned the products via registered post and submit a cover letter explaining the scenario. Even though they know of this, I still have to prove myself!!
Anyway, it has annoyed me that I was so careful to read the hidden t&c's, which are easy enough to find on the website, for those of you who say you weren't aware, I wonder how?
I saw the ad through facebook, so I am wondering if there isn't a governing body that can put a stop to these things so others aren't caught out!
Good luck to everyone trying to get their money back.

Interesting.... But as Ireland are part of the EU. They are governed by PSD.
For which you only have to tell your bank that you want no further debits to the company.
Any then taken will be credited back and returned to the retailer on the basis the agreement was cancelled the day you spoke to the bank...
    No paperwork required.

    WHY?
The companies are doing nothing wrong.
They offer a FREE TRAIL and that is exactly what you get. If you like the product, you get charged for it after the FREE TRIAL period has ended as per their T/C.
