Many thanks - any advice would be welcome. My hubby seems to think I'm a tech wizard and gets very frustrated when I can't fix the internet!!!
    Cheers

I don't have the Philips Helpline number, but I did update mine with the latest Philips software, the model is SNA 6500, but I cannot find the link now, try Philips Web Site.

Mine works 100% with the Philips Software.;)

Only thing is, ebuyer delivers via Citylink and I was carded when they tried to deliver. Not normally a problem with Royal Mail (depot just up the road) but Citylink wouldn't attempt a 2nd delivery ("ebuyer won't pay"), nor deliver to an alternative address, nor leave in my garage (no signature), and all my neighbours are out at work too. So I had to collect from their depot - 25 milse away (instead of it being at my local depot 10 miles away!???!). And they said they'd have to talk to ebuyer to transfer it to the local one {sigh}.

Exctly why I try to avoid companies using CityLink! Mine also gets taken 25 miles away! Thankyou for this information.

Regarding upgrading of firmware, I have a few question:

    1. Here is the link to the latest software:
    http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?tmplt=Cps&scy=GB&slg=ENG&cat=PC_NETWORKING_CA&sct=ROUTERS_GATEWAYS_SU&grp=PC_PRODUCTS_GR&session=20070613094334_82.198.252.5&ctn=SNA6500/05&mid=Link_Software&hlt=Link_Software

Why does the SNA 6500 picture on the philips website different to the one we recieved from Ebuyer? Should they not look exactly the same if they are the same product?

    2. After the download, you are given two files, 1. for Round power button, 2. For the square power button. Which one is ours (from Ebuyer)?

    3. The firmware file has the extension .bin, how do I open this file/ install this file?

    Thanks for your help.

Sorry, I have a further question:

    1. Normally for security reasons, people have firewall, antivirus, antispyware software on their PC when they browse on the internet. My question is, if I browse on my PSP (as now I have wireless thanks to this router) how safe is it?

    2. Doesn't the PSP face similar threats while browsing on the net? Is there any equivalent firewall, antivirus, antyspyware for the PSP?

3.Does this router have hardware firewall?

Answer to question 1; The casing is different, that's all, don't worry about it.
Answer to question 2, if yours like mine has a square ( oblong ) button, that is the one to use.

Answer to Question 3; Save the bin file to your desktop and then retrieve it from there.

    ;)

To be honest, I cannot understand what people are finding so difficult, I have one of these, I am no expert, in fact quite the opposite yet mine was up and running in around 10 mins, including a second computer using wireless.

I just followed the Set Up Wizard, then set up the wi fi .

well good for you! Wish the rest of us were finding it so easy. Your comment wasn't really helpful in any way though was it? Just because yours was easy to set up does not mean that the rest of ours should be?! I was a bit offended by the tone of your comment which suggests we also shoudl eb finding it easy.

    Dear two great minds,

I am so sorry for being unable to set my router. You two guys are wonderful almost to the point that it sounds like you are a PR for Talk Talk.

I know that the routers are technically not supplied by Talk Talk but I was just wanting help and I thought the initial free phone help number could be of assist.

I thought these forums were to help other money savers not ridicule them without even offering advice or signposting in the right direction.

I have decided to bring my three children up in a fashion that resemble you two. I'm sure they wont go wrong in life.

Once again I am sorry for my inadequacy in setting up a router. Well I must go back to my lessons in Philosophy, (that’s pursuit of wisdom to you two).
