Kicking myself. I fell for this after thinking how professional site etc. looks. Worried about line address etc. being on the docket online. How can rebooting a router change this?

I have called my credit card company almost immediately, now have to wait for new card etc. Will they refund it even though I authorised payment? Site seemed secure etc. can't believe I was caught! should have been more thorough checking site out.
2p or not 2p? That is the question!
  • Nothing else you can do except report to your credit card company and get them to raise a charge back.. Maybe if the sites bank get enough charge backs they will do something - although based on the speed the site changes name and ISP and certificate a change of bank is nothing
  • Ditto scammed on 2100 points this afternoon, called bank who advised payment had been authorised but not taken yet. Was told that until the money is taken and only if no code provided by instant points within 30 days then no fraud. Since they have all card details, plus address and mobile contact and IP address looks like a harvesting operation, but then why put the charge through for authorisation?
  • Yes report to bank/credit card company, I've also logged a report with 'action fraud' (cant post link as mse doesnt allow me)- you'll get a crime reference number too if you ever might need it, they forward the data to the police. These instant points guys are criminals, site should be shut down.
  • Hi,

I took have fallen for this - bought from instant-points.net Only bought from them as they were advertising on Google.

I bought 12 month online Xbox codes so my son could use it yesterday. And it is no great surprise that it has yet to arrive. I have been advised by credit card company to call back in 7 days to give them enough to deliver the codes, and they can still raise charge back.

Personally, I'm going to a reputable supermarket to buy the online membership now so my son can enjoy Xbox live during the easter hols.

    Spam reported.

I wouldn't use any website that feels the need to hide its registration details using privacy protection - what exactly have they got to hide?

Also, the site has no physical contact details, just a contact form.
  • Just fell for this so now they have my card details, address, phone number.. :(
