Tesco Classic coffee is very pleasant. The 200g jar works out cheaper than the 300g jar.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

Sainsbury's gold blend is nice and inexpensive, but my favourite coffee is the clipper decaf in the green jar. I don't think it's that expensive when you consider how long a jar lasts. We drink a lot of this coffee, but it's still less than £2 a week.0

My preference is for Kenco freeze-dried - but have used Asda freeze-dried Gold and it's very nice. I think the secret is not to have a 'heaped spoonful' if you are quite new to drinking coffee.
I also mix the coffee with the milk before adding the hot water - you aren't supposed to make coffee with boiling water as it can cause it to taste bitter.0 -
Hi owens,
I think the taste of coffee is a personal thing and what one person will like another will loathe but we have an earlier thread with lots of Old Stylers favourite coffees listed that should give you an idea of what you might like to try so I'll add your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.

I cannot afford Nescafe Gold blend, so always buy the own label gold, usually Tesco or asda and both of these are really nice..
Also OH insists that the milk and sugar is put in before the hot water as this effects the taste and scorches the coffee???!!![STRIKE]September 2009 - £11000 owed, its gonna be hard going[/STRIKE]!:T
[STRIKE]Halifax - £500[/STRIKE] :T

Evidently, coffee should be made with water at 85°C.The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
Alot of the cheap value items are very good, like tinnied tomatosand sweetcorn.
I do not comprimise on cheap coffee, think it tastes vile. Generally buy gold blend when it is on offer. Co-Op currently selling two 500g at £7.00 wich will keep stocked for a while.Amazon No:170
