Oh, I was just going to suggest the Co-Op! They do a couple of own brands, I was going to suggest the freeze dried.
I also like Clipper instant in both regular and decaff.
I was looking around for ages after I decided to try to stop buying Nestle products.

Thanks Seakay, maybe they should be back on my list then as the recipe may have changed - do you think that it tastes like Nesacfe GB?

I drink cafedirect coffee now, but when I first switched from Gold Blend, I found the Asda own brand to be quite similar in flavour

Mike, I love Nescafe GB but refuse to pay the price. Aldi's gold roast is an exact match. Can't remember price but it's miles cheaper than Nescafe.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

Well I thought that the freeze dried type from Co-Op was similar, but I have ended up prefering Clipper or somtimes CafeDirect Intense for a change.

I don't drink coffee myself but my hubby does. He prefers Nescafe Gold Blend and I have for the last year bought Asdas own and put it in an empty GB jar and he has not noticed the difference...yet :o

I wondered if that might be the case - Aldi and Lidl continually surprise me with the quality of some of their products!

    Thanks for the info.

That would have been one on my list to taste test. Does it taste very similar to Nescafe Gold Blend?

To be honest it is so long since we had any Nescafe Gold Blend that I couldn't say. However we were happy with it when we changed over. (This is referring to Sainsbury's Gold Roast)

I find the Tesco Gold Roast coffee very similar. Indeed there seem to be a swathe of Gold Blend clones and they all seem to be very close. The Tesco one is in an almost identical jar.

The one thing I have noticed is that buying more does not necessarily make it cheaper. Per 100g the 300g is more expensive than the 200g and that’s more than the 100g!

I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...

I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!
