The trouble is that the hard left doesn't want equality of opportunity, it wants equality of outcome.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

Shame I can't thank that a thousand times. Fairness does not = everyone living the same. Why should someone who could work but doesn't have remotely the same quality of life as someone who works like a dog? Why should someone who clocks in & does the bare minimum live the same way as somone who does twice as much? Why should someone who chooses ultra-low-risk-style employment live the same was as someone who takes risks & succeeds?0 -
Anyone know why constituents of Harlow minded petrol price rises so much? Doesnt seem particularly rural, say, compared to Scotland,Devon,Yorkshire moors! Obviously sympathise with them-but wondering why so bad there? All eyes on Robert Halfon come the spring budget!0

Simply twisting what I said will not change the fact that we are class ridden and have no equality of opportunity. Its not about equality of outcome which is what you are alluding to above. Its about equality of opportunity. Simple enough for you? Ignore Colonel Blimp George...even though he pretends he doesn't read my posts any more;)Shame I can't thank that a thousand times. On a lighter note Moby we do live in a class ridden society and always will and may I say that I would rather be at my end of the class ladder than go where some of the so called elite end up in corrupion etc. Without the genuine working class they would not have earned their fortunes and we would not be as well of either, works both ways.;)0 -
You would both feel far better if you stopped worrying about class. There's plenty of opportunity in this country for everyone. You live in one of the most privilege countries in the world. Nip over to the 3rd world & tell them how little opportunity you have in the UK.0

I realise just how well off I am living in one of the most privileged countries in the world and I just look around as see the problems that they are having.
Lets be satisfied with our lot irrespective of which rung we may be on. While we have it lets work together to keep it.0 -
Despite our polar opposite views on most things we probably have far more in common than you think. I very much doubt you grew up poorer than me, if you did then I feel sorry for you
Wearing your brother's old school uniform was no fun if you were 14 in the early 80s & he was 14 in the early 70s. Out of 300 kids there were 299 sets of drainpipes & one pair of 18" lionel blairs

'Businesses producing and importing, and consumers of, hydrocarbon oils and alternative fuel products' will be those affected by fuel duty changes (HM Revenue and Customs)
Oh dear .... what with the 4p price rise as well, can business/work get any more difficult in Britain?0 -
Time stop just relying on oil & get on with a fracking alternative.0
