  • Slice off the top part and throw away. scoop out the fruit and put in a bowl and mix with vanilla ice cream (or other favourite) scoop back into the pineapple and place in freezer. Once set remove from freezer and slice. Delish served on its own or mixed fruit, (even better with chocolate syrup)

I also bought one of these for 64p and I will make upside down pudding/cake with mine - also I may try and freeze it to see what happens.
Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j

I remember making a drink with it when we were kids, I've been searching for the recipe online as we only made it once or twice, but haven't found it, it was a matter of putting the skin and some sugar in a container with water andleaving it, it was supposed to ferment to make a sparkling drink type thing, I'd love to make it again, hmmm must look harder.
HTH even if it just triggers someone else who has the recipe!xxx

    .

Not sure your way will work. If I recall, the pineapple is what they call a bromeliad and the method is to cut off the top rosette TOGETHER with a centimetre of flesh and then leave to dry for a bit. Then you plant it in a moist, gritty compost.

Can't be sure because I've lost my 'Houseplants for Free' book... but you should be able to google the info.

My son did it a few years ago by just cutting the top off with about abit of flesh still on it on a saucer with some water, when it sprouted roots he planted it.It lasted about 2 years then died. Whether this one will root who knows, but it`s worth a try.

Anyhow I only have a third left of the pineapple, the kids have been scoffing loads of it.So I haven`t had a chance to do anything exciting with the rest of it.But alas one day I shall whizz up a storm in the kitchen and make that upside down cake.

Susank, did you make your pineapple upside down cake?

Make and freeze some sweet and sour sauce?

roughly chop up pineapple (I haven't seen the pic, but this would be for a standard size one), 3 or 4 peppers, 3 onions and a few 'thumbs' of ginger. Add a chilli or two if you like 'pep'. Whack em all in the SC (or oven) with a bit of stock. When all the veg are well cooked, liquidise the lot with four or five tbs of balsamic vinegar and a couple of tbs of sugar.:D

Well sadly I cant do anything with that particular pineapple now as I`m sat on me bed with one hand on the keyboard and the other hand scoffing the left over pineapple dipped in melted chocolate off the plate.

I will be buying more cheap pineapples this weekend and if I do something flash with them I`ll post ya`s a pic.

******I was gunna put some in jelly but then read a post and it said there is something in pineapple what stops the jelly setting.*****
sorry dont know how to quote from other people's reply's

Ive never had a problem with putting pineapple in a jelly, do this all the time for the kids. Instead of making the jelly with 1pt of cold water, I put in 3/4 pt and it sets fine.

Try frying/griddling thick pineapple slices that you have first rolled in brown sugar and then serve hot with ice cream. Delicious !!!!!
