I'm trying to remember who it was on this thread who last year (or year before, maybe) said what a nice feeling it was to climb into bed at the end of Christmas day, sober, having a cup of tea.
I may not have that wording quite right but it has stayed with me and I too love that feeling of getting to bed and feeling fully in control!
I wont be staying AF on Christmas Day though as do plan to have a (moderate) couple of glasses but know that others will be having an AFD and wish you well.

After my two in a row AF I am feeling pretty good today :)

I still have 3/4 of a bottle of wine in the fridge which, for me, helps. Not having it there is worse for me for some reason.

I wonder if I can manage the hat trick?!

:j:j:j:j:j I am really happy to report that tonight is yet another AF Day!

    3/14 please Shaggy

Considering I struggle with 2 in a row normally and only managed that once last month and not at all the month before, this is miraculous! I don't even feel like I want wine :T (helped by the fact I have a brand new electric blanket and I can't wait to get into bed :D )

So, a quick ciggie and a glass of water and I am off to the land of dreams :D

(Hopefully I will have cracked this before the light evenings as I don't think I can keep going to bed at 8pm!)

Hope everyone is having a good week so far, AF or otherwise :)

So Saturday was a planned drinking occasion which led on to Sunday drinking as well then yesterday I had some wonderful news when an absolute pain in the ±±±± member of staff handed their notice in. I came home and had a bottle of red wine to celebrate this massive weight being lifted off my shoulders! When she leaves it will actually feel like I've gained an extra day in the week due to the amount of time and effort required to manage her incompetence and sickness!

Anyway, one bottle became 2 and this morning I woke up feeling ropey which for sooooo long was the norm of how I'd feel each morning! Tonight I am sitting here clear headed grateful that I'm not drinking or have the absolute desire to do so like I used to.

Calling 1 AF night so far!

    Have a good night everyone!

    Hello

Thanks to a random PM out of the blue today by a very lovely person from old on this thread sees me popping back to see how you all are, long time no 'speak'!

Everything has changed in my life for the better, except for the drinking.

Therefore Shaggy, I'm not willing to give myself a target but could you stick me on your December list please and we'll see how it goes!

Gonna sit meself over there in the corner and catch up on a few pages.

    Jo. X

Hi Jo great to see you posting ( I am the phoenix from the ashes of a forgotten password with Needtochange :)
Good to hear life is going well for you and once you set your mind back on this challenge you will be well back on track :)
Hi Shaggy, Maman, Jo and anyone else who remembers me. I'd like to come back to join everyone again please! I'd like to set a target of 14 in December. I've been poddling along as before really which is to say very few AFDs and too much wine.. Typically about 2/3 a bottle most nights now. I really want to focus on improving my health and immune system and notch up more non-drinking days in December.

Off to read up on the thread a bit.

Hiya WBF. Good to see all the familiar faces as well as all the new ones to keep that motivation to keep on track there :T

Sorry but none to report yet. I have had a couple of work dos and some posh train trips where they serve free wine :o luckily its not that long a trip for me so its only one maybe two glasses to beat myself up about :D

Had a small medical procedure today and the blood test results came back with an odd one (they were taken last week after a few AF days on the trot) anyway apparently my sodium is low which is most commonly seen with excess water intake :rotfl: yup that will be me then when going for the clean day. She suggested I have more salt and vinegar crisps  great health advice for me so I will bear that one in mind.

As usual I am taking the bull by the horns and packing in smoking too on champix so i have a week or so then its bye bye the dreaded weed I know this is gonna be a double whammy with the AF days too but I am ready to get this dreadful health sorted out in every area I can.

Sorry for the waffle back on track tomorrow with a planned AF

    Good morning all :)

Shaggy, could you put me down for 1 AFD please (sorry I remember from old you like big red numbers but I'm on my phone and its too fiddley!).

Had a strange evening. To give some background for those that don't know me - I have a 20 year old drinking problem, reckon I've consumed alcohol through 95% of it. Guess I'm what you call a functioning alcoholic, I only drink when I get through the door after work. Therefore being AF yesterday for me was odd, it was difficult to fill the void (cue GC for some inspirational words :A) then I spent a night filled with dreams that would have given Stephen King enough material for a book! I woke frequently as I was covered in sweat from my blood sugar dropping whilst sleeping and feel exhausted this morning! Surely that's enough to encourage people to not go too far down the drinking slippery slope?!

Anyway, onwards and upwards, off to work now - see you all later, have a great day :)

    Jo. X

I know that must of been a huge effort for you Jo. Even if you're back on it tonight you've had a shift of thinking. Good on you. x
