Good morning all
Shaggy, could you put me down for 1 AFD please (sorry I remember from old you like big red numbers but I'm on my phone and its too fiddley!).
Had a strange evening. To give some background for those that don't know me - I have a 20 year old drinking problem, reckon I've consumed alcohol through 95% of it. Guess I'm what you call a functioning alcoholic, I only drink when I get through the door after work. Therefore being AF yesterday for me was odd, it was difficult to fill the void (cue GC for some inspirational words :A) then I spent a night filled with dreams that would have given Stephen King enough material for a book! I woke frequently as I was covered in sweat from my blood sugar dropping whilst sleeping and feel exhausted this morning! Surely that's enough to encourage people to not go too far down the drinking slippery slope?!
Anyway, onwards and upwards, off to work now - see you all later, have a great day

Well done mummy - that is an amazing total you are right to feel proud of yourself :T
No AF's for me this weekend but fairly light consumption
Good luck to everyone for one of the most difficult months of the year (alcohol-wise)0 -

I'm sure John Coats won't mind me quoting from his book. I've recomended it enough times!!
It really is as simple as this.
'In recovery, WE STOP DOING THINGS THAT MAKE US FEEL BAD ABOUT OURSELVES - AND WE START DOING SOME THINGS THAT MAKE US FEEL GOOD ABOUT OURSELVES.'
and yes it's in capitals in the book!
I found when I was drinking that I had completely lost touch with what made me feel good about myself. I got to a point where I knew drinking was amking me feel bad but I hadn't worked out what to do instead. I HAD to find something to 'fill the void' otherwise I would be drinking again.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Hi Shaggy, Maman, Jo and anyone else who remembers me. I'd like to come back to join everyone again please! I'd like to set a target of 14 in December. I've been poddling along as before really which is to say very few AFDs and too much wine.. Typically about 2/3 a bottle most nights now. I really want to focus on improving my health and immune system and notch up more non-drinking days in December.
Off to read up on the thread a bit.0 -

Hi Jo, so amused by the fact there was another person in the same phase as me at the moment, I guess December has always been a tempting month!
I've found there is a close link between my sleeping well or bouts of insomnia and I need to keep my current pattern of sleeping soundly. By the time I wake up after sober sleep I feel like my body is making up for lots of lost time in how much I want more. Maybe naps are the wat forward. How's things with you Jo - last time I caught up you had a new relationship and sounded very happy!!0 -
All's good here WBF, new(ish) bloke, new(ish) job, things have really settled since me and ex-OH split. Drinking is the only thing bringing it down, it's like Groundhog Day.
How's you WBF? All good I hope? XDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0
