Morning :hello:
1 more AFD.
Some times its difficult to rack up those AFDs and then some times its easy - I've been having an easy month:) I think its 'cos I'm going through a period of a bit less stress....which is very welcome after the two years I've had.
Hope all your xmas preparations are going well.

I was thinking about Alex earlier (funny how you feel you know your virtual friends:)). What I wanted to say is that having a target of AF days is very helpful but it's not the only way to cut down. Having a single drink each day is just as money-saving and healthy (probably more so) as having them all on one night. So don't you go beating yourself either!
Thank you for the message.I've not had a great week and you've helped me to put into perspective what I deemed as my "failure" to reach my target. As my initial target was to cut down (not cut out), I've still managed that this week.
Yesterday I managed to keep my AF promise to myself making 15.2018 totals:
Savings £11,200

Good to hear you aren't beating yourself up about it fruball.

I don't think anyone should be beating themselves up. It doesn't help at all. What helps is to listen to your thoughts and your mind and your feelings. IF and it's a big IF you feel that you have a drink problem, working that out in your own time is the only way to go.
MAMAN - With respect, please be careful about advising people who clearly are considering their drinking that having one a day is ok. It's not. It allows people to believe they have 'got away with it' For cutter downers it's fine, for people like Alex who is struggling with his alcohol intake it isn't.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. What do you feel your target is now? Cutting down or cutting out? I don't need to know the answer but you do.;)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
365days: I don't really know, that is the problem. Originally, I was simply cutting down for financial reasons, at the time I didn't care for the fact my doctor had told me I needed to drink far less than I did. I'll stress that wasn't for health reasons but because I suffer from depression and anxiety.
I can go for weeks having nothing other than a glass of wine with my evening meal, then things will get so bad I almost am compelled to drink during the day and well into the night. That's usually when I end up hating myself for it.2018 totals:

I'd argue that anxiety and depression are health reasons!!! Depression can be a life threatening condition after all.
It is incredibly common for people who suffer from Mental Health issues to self medicate. For many alcohol is their drug of choice as it is socially acceptable, legal and accessible.
If you knew a smackhead who said .....

I wonder if you would advise him to give up completely, or to carry on dicing with his one hit a night habit?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
