I just worked out that if I carried on drinking like I used to do and lived to age 80, I would spend over £68,000 on alcohol! (That's if I lived to 80 with the rate I was putting it away!)0

Thank you to 365days for the article link - was excellent!
Also to AlexLK for the recognition & words of encouragement!
So last night I did drink! 2 bottles of red wine over a 4 hour period and one stiff G&T! Had a lovely night out with OH, made some future plans and had a laugh to boot. Didn't get into an argument with anyone, didn't do anything bad on facebook or otherwise and managed to interspace some of the glasses of wine with water! Went to bed pleased with myself!
Today as OH makes delightful roast pork using a Jamie Oliver recipe with balsamic vinegar, my mind is already plotting and justifying a nice bottle of wine to have with it! Then it will be afternoon glass of something else....
And so on and so forth............
Can almost try and make myself believe anything to continue the boozing! Bah!!
So calling in super early for sunday. 8 AF days including today. I think a big walk will be on the cards!
Have a good day all!

Hi all..been a while since ive been on here..having semi fallen off the wagon drinking every night (sharing a bottle with hubby)..sometimes a beer , and 3 bottles on a sunday i decided enough was enough was fed up feeling tired, negative, bloated, dry skinned and hair, with cronic ibs. I bit the bullet and have been teetoatal for a whole 7 days..this might not sound much but this is the longest period i havent had anything alcholic in about 16 years! Even when i was expecting i used to have a small wine every 4 days or so (no judegment please) . Im immensly proud of myself, im no longer shouty tired mummy, im happy mad mummy, those first 4 days where horrendous admittidly , but now on the last 2 days i havent really thought about it..its like giving up smoking i guess , thats the way i thought of it (gave that up cold turkey 8 years ago) . Im not saying i wont ever drink and will be teetoatal forever im aiming for around chrstmas eve..thats my goal, hoping you guys and gals can keep me on my goal, as you have done in the past . Im hoping to just drink and treat myself on special occasions and share 1!! bottle on a sunday lunch with hubby from after christmas anyway. Thanks all for getting this far, hope we can get reaquainted, wish you all the luck and love in the world..laura x
Shaggy please put me down for 27 please have done 7 already (including tonight) thanks sweetie x

Ok guys, so I am struggling a bit. I'm ok but I know I'm starting to be in a bit of a pickle and have booked in to see my counsellor on Tuesday. I know what is going on, I'm incredibly anxious about starting dating again, I don't want a drink as such I just want to be able to 'shut off' for a bit. I'm sure everyone's been there. Just found an interesting article which I'll share if anyone wants to read it.

I am no expert but "5 glasses a week" doesnt sound true to me to have that much difference. I was drinking around a bottle a night and have had the same sort of transformation over the past month - redness and puffiness gone in my face, whites of eyes actually white and lost some weight... I do think it makes a dramatic difference to your skin etc when you stop drinking... Also I totally relate to what she says about sleeping better, feeling more alert and happier.
I'm on the herbal tea now and reading a book on my sofa (at least, I will be reading in a minute!), so calling in with my 9/25 please Shaggy.
Good luck to those struggling today. I was a bit earlier, for no reason, and I know that if I'd had any wine in the house it would have been touch and go.
have a good evening everyone.Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...

Not an AFD for me today. However, I shared a bottle of white with Mrs. K. and not felt the desire for anymore, so a little victory in itself, I think.
