  • Figtree, so glad you're joining in the challenge to beat or cut down the booze. My jeans are falling down so I don't know if I've lost weight or not. But we all know that alcohol is just empty calories, it's the internal health that matters and that will improve. I wish I was as good as you going to the gym, maybe I will if I stay sober a little longer.

  • Jak - 39 days, I can't believe it, I bet you are amazed. Well done. I drank because it was there, I drank because no-one said I couldn't. Good luck with your appointment with the alcohol and drug treatment centre or whatever its called, I hope it helps, but it may open up things so be prepared. That is the hurt that makes you healed. I will be thinking of you honey and keep in touch with all those people you have met don't isolate whatever you do.

Hiya. Thanks for your kind words 41! As always, you know just what to say! I wanted to let you know that I suffer from depression too and apparently, the tablets can not work properly if you drink a lot on them. I've got to say, I feel less depressed since I stopped drinking so I think there may be something in that.
I told my sister today, that was a big one for me! She was supportive which is good. She also has issues with her drinking but she'll come to it in her own time. XXX

6/24 today, and I'm going to start that paperwork now. I've made a bargain with myself that if I finish it this week I can have some wine on Valentine's weekend. I'm losing sleep over the unfinished task, and there's a hefty financial incentive to getting it in. Neither of those two last reasons have been enough to get me started, though.

Had the most gorgeous piece of correspondence today. A 6-yr old child sent his sponsor a hand-drawn smiley face and said "this is what I look like when you write to me". Awww, I showed everyone. Some letters bring you to tears of sadness, but that one brought tears of delight.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

In the last 4 weeks I've managed to put 1lb on, which means I am the only person at work to have gained weight even though I haven't had a drink, really need to get focused on some exercise, I really need some motivation.

Going to have a bath now and watch catfish with my daughter, we've taped it for the last couple of weeks.

    Have a good evening everyone

    Hi all,

Had a long day at uni so came back feeling really 'wired'. Normally this would trigger an automatic thought to go out and buy a bottle of wine but instead, without realising, I said to myself 'I can't wait to get home and cook myself a nice dinner' :)

So I cooked a nice stir-fry, full of lots of different-coloured vegetables and chicken which was really satisfying (and relaxing). I am enjoying spending my spare money on more fresh vegetables and making healthier meals, although I might have to reign it in as my bank balance is suffering lol :o
