    Morning :hello:

Impromptu drinks with a friend last night. Didn't go wild (probably about 4 units). Had a real nice evening so it was worth it :)

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

I'll be glad for the end of the week, I am shattered. But I have a week off next week and will probably spend most of it doing uni work but at least I can chill at home :T

  • Morning everyone,

GP, lovely to see you posting on here again - you sound like you're amazingly motivated - keep it up!!! I noticed you 'look' like a newbie on here and was curious...

I've had two nights of much better sleep. I'm still very busy in my new job.

Another AFD last night so that's 3/11 for me please Shaggy.

    Have a good Thursday!
  • I have a new outlook on life today. Seeing my daughter hurt opened my eyes. It made me look at myself through her eyes. What if I had had a drink when it happened, do my children think I won't be able to help them if they're in trouble/hurt. Then I thought that do my children worry that I will end up in hospital through drink. And then I thought that if all the bad experiences I have had with drink my children have seen too then they probably feel similar feelings to me. I feel that I have wasted too much time trying to block my children and life out by drink, they have just had to put up with this and accept a mum who will only spend time with them if there's a drink available.
I have an action plan however, some of which I am already doing:
Telling people I don't drink and feeling proud of it, my children hear this and will remind me hopefully, if I want a drink.
Not going out the kitchen to the fridge, or replacing the hand to mouth behaviour of lager> bottle opener> oblivion with kettle on milk out hot drink instead.
Driving if going out to a pub, restaurant and sitting away from the bar.
Not going down the booze aisle in a supermarket, shopping online sometimes for food if I want.
There are more I hope this is constructive, it is common sense but that goes out the window when you need something to ease the pain, numb the feelings. I don't want to drink on Valentine's night even if I go out which I probably won't anyway and I want to complete February the shortest month of the year and let my anti-depressants work. GP I am very motivated by your post and so very glad that you're posting with us, nice to see someone who is feeling the benefits so far along the AF journey.
Jak - I hope your appointment goes ok today I'm thinking of you honey, be strong and keep an open mind.
Hope you all have a lovely day. See you later and I love you all.
