Hello!
I am on my 2 AF night.................
My last AF nights were 1st, 2nd & 3rd April so I have really not done very well!
Not drinking to oblivion but steady several drinks every night with all the excuses! "Beautiful night lets have drinks in the garden"; "!!!!!! day give me a drink!", "Oh have you already poured me a drink?"; "I'll just have the one as I have to be up early" (then stagger off to bed!) ; "I got paid shitloads lets go out and have date night and champagne - I'm paying!" (and spend the next day in bed hungover!) etc etc etc.
Funnily enough when I do abstain I do feel better with myself for so many reasons!!
Hope you are all well my old friends!

Hellooo Stupotstu, you've been missed, welcome back!
Joanne, good call, maybe trainer does feel threatened. She is a stickler for procedures, and probably felt I was circumventing procedures. I keep telling people how they can use shortcuts on the email system etc, plus I question why we do things (because we've always done it that way not being an adequate "reason" IMHO). The cc thing is what got my goat, especially as she sits metres away. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -

Has yours been affected at all or have you gone past that stage?
Joanne
I actually found my sleep was better after a few days. When I was drinking I would wake around 3 or 4 and not get back to sleep for hours. Usually only an hour or so before the alarm!
For the first few nights I still woke but went back off relatively quickly. I did however change my nighttime routine the first week and was having a bath most evenings and reading. mainly to occupy the time so I didn't get tempted to drink.
Now I tend to have to get up once to go to the loo - never had to do that before - all the water and tea I am now drinking! But I go straight back to sleep and wake pretty refreshed.
I am going to bed later and it takes me up to an hour to drift off but I don't stress about it as I know the quality of sleep is a lot better.
I guess people react differently. Tbh I thought I would have some withdrawal symptoms but not had any. I did have a rotten headache when as part of the diet I cut out my tea and by early evening had to give in to that and have a cup!Journey began May 2013

Hi, I was worried about withdrawal as well, even the prospect of fitting  or the shakes but apart from lack of sleep I have had no withdrawal.
Have a good evening

Hi, I was worried about withdrawal as well, even the prospect of fitting  or the shakes but apart from lack of sleep I have had no withdrawal.
I sleep much much better now I am no longer drinking so much. I would do exactly the same as others on here after drinking, wake up about 3 or 4 and stay awake. I would sweat heavily, have palpitations and feel a certain lack of control over my movements. I would then start to panic about the damage I was doing my body which would kick me into a short period of abstinance.
Since joining this thread I have only drunk heavily enough a couple of times to have this happen and I now sleep through the night several times a week. Not having panic attacks in the night about my health, and the sweats, which I was also putting down to my age, have almost stopped entirely. Stick with it Joanne, as calmer nights await you. If you can't get off to sleep, try drinking a strong cup of valerian tea. Its a herbal sedative and makes you feel sleepy after drinking it.
As for the other withdrawal symptoms, I could be wrong, but I think may be the preserve of the regular heavy drinkers of hard hitting spirits etc. If you are abstaining for days at a time without symptoms then I suspect you are not a heavy/ regular enough drinker to succumb to these. Please don't take that as gospel, I have probably looked up facts about alcohol dependency (different from alcoholism) in the past.
Anyway, I am able to lay claim to another AF night bringing the SNC total to 3/5 . It brings my overal total to
4/5 I think though, my tiny brain is struggling to manage to keep track of both counts. Gien - Should I be counting last Sunday in the SNC or did we start on Mon 3rd?
Have a good Thursday and best wishes to all those in need.
Kind regards

This is easily the worst withdrawal I have had from anything! I gave in after about 36 hours as I had a crushing headache and felt dizzy and disorientated. I am going to have a go at cutting down gently as cold turkey with caffeine is not funny!
Kind regards

Slowdown, you can count Sunday if you like - that gives you a 5 night SNC.Trying to keep in budget.

Morning all!
1 for me please Shaggy!:)
Joanne - Its only when I'm NOT drinking that I realise how badly I do sleep when I've had a drink. It usually only takes a few days for sleep patterns to settle down (for me anyway).
Bit of a tight week moneywise in the Piggy household so no opportunity to get tempted by wine:D thank god.
