One of my friends hasn't had any alcohol since February and has lost a tonne of weight. Also made it easier tonight knowing somebody else wasn't drinking.0 -

Hi Miss P  Good to see you posting again.0 -
This is easily the worst withdrawal I have had from anything! I gave in after about 36 hours as I had a crushing headache and felt dizzy and disorientated. I am going to have a go at cutting down gently as cold turkey with caffeine is not funny!
Kind regards

Good luck. I know when I stopped drinking, my alcoholism would tell me that I needed to drink. For me , it was an illusion as I wasn't physically addicted to alcohol. It just wanted me to drink again....
In addition, just after stopping I was suddenly 'in touch' again with my body. For years I was either drunk or hungover or had a few drinks inside me, but with no booze in my system, I could feel all the aches and pains. I also felt absolutely knackered.
Alcohol had drowned out all the messages my body was sending. Thus the first few days were very hard for me - felt physically drained and also my head was full of noise (which a few drinks would help quiet down).
Like every single feeling I have ever had, it has eventually passed.0 -
Well fell off the SNC wagon last night. Drank a couple of glasses of wine, so nothing excessive but the effect was definitely greater thasn it used to be. Have a minor headache this morning and woke up twice in the night, once with the sweats. Do you think my tolerance is lowering at last? Not that long ago I would have drunk twice as much with little effect.
Now as a balancing out exercise I am going to try not to drink tonight and count it as a school night to keep me on track. Will definitely not be drinking Sat as I am driving to a 50th in Sussex. That will then keep me on course for both challenges. Heres hoping.
It does underline the fact I drink according to my mental state. Really wasn't feeling a happy bunny yesterday and by 8.30 had poured a glass. It was a combination of feeling fed up with some weight gain, financial pressures, children related worries etc. I some times feel disconnected from the world around me and the alcohol doesn't make me feel better but wraps a blanket around my head so I can't hear those muffled voices nagging at me. (I am not hearing voices in a scary horror movie type of way! Just the self battering one)
It is probably the same for most of us on here which is why we joined, to hear some supportive, friendly voices over the top. (Am I coming across as completely bonkers?) Think I'll stop twittering now before you all lock me up!
Kind regards

Was typing as this went up so didn't catch it in time for my post. Make me think I am not alone with the voices!
Well done you for getting past it and into a new world. My body seems to have an ache or pain most of the time. It could be my age (closer to 50 than 40 that's for sure) or a better tuning in of mind and body.
I do have to sort out my eating as well. But can I tackle all this at once? Big question.
Kind regards
