Welcome Joanne, you'll get lots of support on this forum and no-one is judgemental.

41, I've no idea how benefits work, but I'd start by contacting the Citizens Advice Bureau to see what they say.

25/20 AFDs. Had a fun day at work, my team-mates dressed as pirates, although it was a big shame that my colleague who's birthday was also being celebrated was off sick.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

Hi Everyone
11 AF please Shaggy ~ thank you very much for continuing to keep the scores on the doors:T
I am aiming to have a better balance of AF days in my week, up til this week it was pretty much consistently more drinking days than non. So my wee challenge to myself this week is to have 4 AF days.
I decided to try yoga for the first time last week OMG:eek: the next day i could hardly move, even trying to sit on the loo was tricky:D however i have returned to class this week so hopfully i wont feel as bad tomorrow

Welcome Joanne109 to the boards, as others have said its a really supportive, non judgemental forum. I also follow WW (having got to goal last year) and it really helped me in also reducing my alcohol intake as i didnt have enough points for wine every night. 6 propoints in a large glass and 19 in a a bottle:eek: Stick with it, the plan does work if you follow it properly

I'm back from my mini-break. I have been drinking every day but very sensible and controlled. Mostly sharing a bottle (between 4:eek:) at dinner and then a nightcap back at the hotel. What amazes me most is how I've changed. I don't fancy a drink during the day whereas previously I'd have been disappointed if someone suggested a coffee shop as I'd have wanted to go to a wine bar. And getting ready to go out in the evening, I don't even think about a drink until we sit down for dinner. At my worst I've had bottles of wine in my bag to drink in the hotel room.

I hope you are proud of yourself Maman :T :T

I've had a sick child here too, nothing too bad luckily, but we had guests over the weekend so I now feel pretty tired.
I've had 2 AFD since last checking in, so up to 5 now. I'm aiming for school night AF, a drink on Friday and Saturday and then an AF Sunday. my husband is away with a mate over the weekend and I have a girlfriend staying Saturday.
Trying to keep in budget.

:wave:welcome joanne, good to have you on board.

Like mackeroo, I sorted out my drinking because I hated being fat. It may not be the best reason but it motivated me. I did SW so needed to limit my wine intake to match the syns I was allowed. I lost 3 and a half stone and I've kept it off for almost two years.:D I never wanted to give up just learn to control myself and change bad habits. I'm not pretending it's easy but it can be done and all the support on here is a huge help.

Sorry you're feeling wobbly 41. I think you've been given good advice about going to CAB. I don't really know much about how benefits work but if you have a 'partner' who isn't prepared to support you then why are you staying with him? What are you getting from the relationship? Hope you coped ok this evening and sending you a big hug.:)

satchmo, this is to wish you a very Happy Birthday.

I'm glad you had a good day and hope Wednesday will be too.

At last I'm back on the wagon.

7AFDs please Shaggy.

I'm not going to make my target this month as I'm out on Thursday and I've run out of days. Next month I'll try hard to get my 10 days in BEFORE I go on holiday. Meanwhile I have to be satisfied with knowing it's me that's in control not the booze!

I do wish I hadn't had that wine tonight, I really don't feel any better or relaxed for it and I am absolutely dreading how I will feel when I wake up tomorrow morning.
Ah well, at least I can look forward to being AF tomorrow and the rest of my week off (and beyone).
Hopefully 1 day of "wining" won't totally negate the previous 4 consecutive AF days

• Hi Joanne109 mentioned this thread to me - please can I join in? I am finding things OK at the mo but I am sure there will be tougher times ahead and you seem a supportive bunch :)

I decided a week or so ago that I needed to get my drinking under control as I was getting well into my second bottle of wine on a daily basis. The thing is I was no longer even enjoying it. So I decided to stop completely for a few weeks to give my liver a rest and then remain within the recommended guidelines.

I also need to pay off debts and the money saved on wine will go a long way to helping that!

I have unofficially recorded my AFDs in my sig - how do I officially join in for June? Sorry if it says somewhere but this is a long thread so I have jumped in at the end!

Thanks

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.
