21/20 AFDs, although I was seriously tempted to buy a bottle of wine this evening. The knowledge that I would drink 99% of it myself, and probably in one go, was a factor in not buying any. Poorly DH, with a raging temperature all day yesterday, and still not right today although temp only spiked occasionally today. Typical that it happens on a BH weekend, hmph. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0

My fridge is so full of healthy food lol. Benefits of being on slimming world and trying to abstain from alcohol consumption. So when I was trying to find something I was looking at the bottles of lager, picked one up to get something and it was so cold and reminded me of times gone by and I for a second wanted to hold that bottle and maybe drink it, I think holding a bottle of lager was second nature for me, never been a wine drinker really so it must be similar to ex-smokers who are used to holding a cigarette. A cold wet bottle of lager has an association to so many memories for me, I needed to put it down as the longer I held it the memories were more real. They are in the salad boxes at the bottom of the fridge, but because my fridge is chocker block I had to put minced beef in with the lager lol. Wanted to share as didn't realise that would happen and it shocked me really.

Well done 41 for putting the beer back. I know if there had been wine in my fridge this weekend I wouldn't have had the strength to do that. Luckily there wasn't any available (smiley or frowny face???)
DH is much better today, but we had words yesterday, so I went off for a two hour walk. DH has gone to buy me flowers for my birthday, so why am I in such a bad mood? Childishness. I want the flowers on my birthday (Wednesday) not today.
I've just hoovered and surface tidied the house, and as soon as I've finished breakfast I'm taking the dog for a walk to try to walk off this bear with a sore headedness (and be out when DH returns because I am not in a gracious mood right now).

Sorry you're feeling a bit down satchmo. Hope you're feeling better when you get back.
41, I'm curious why you've still got lager in your fridge when you don't want it? Why don't you just throw/give it away? Then you'll have even more room for healthy food!:D
I'm back from my mini-break. I have been drinking every day but very sensible and controlled. Mostly sharing a bottle (between 4:eek:) at dinner and then a nightcap back at the hotel. What amazes me most is how I've changed. I don't fancy a drink during the day whereas previously I'd have been disappointed if someone suggested a coffee shop as I'd have wanted to go to a wine bar. And getting ready to go out in the evening, I don't even think about a drink until we sit down for dinner. At my worst I've had bottles of wine in my bag to drink in the hotel room.
I've planned a drink tonight as it's BH but back on the wagon tomorrow, no problem. This month's target (and next) will be poor for me because of holidays but I'm not too worried. I can now treat alcohol like a 'normal' person not one with a drinking problem.0 -
Maman, it is my partner's booze. If I gave that away he would go mental.

Hi all, sorry to hear people are finding things tough at the moment, hope things get better ((hugs)).
15 AFDs please Shaggy
Was OH's birthday on Saturday so have had a few days which haven't been alcohol-free. Drunk too many units I know, but I don't feel guilty (although something in my head is telling me I *should* feel bad). It's not to say I am back to drinking heavy for good, I think I am just cutting myself some slack for once

Hi all, feeling a bit panicky at the moment, trying not to find a soother IYKWIM and ride it out. Oh my God, being anxious really sucks. Never know when it's going to strike. Really want this awful feeling to pass.

Your not the only one right now 41, I came on here precisely as I am feeling the exact same as you. I like your analogy. My reasons for feeling anxious are "Bill" related and because he has seriously annoyed me today. Do you know what yours are? Have you a strategy for getting through this?
I have poured myself a lemon squash but made with diet lemonade rather than water, its like cloudy lemonade and quite refreshing.

It's passed, I went upstairs and cleaned floor with a dustpan and brush, got serious heartburn though. Probably from drinking too much green tea. My voice has returned, sort of. Spoke to my dad, first time in a week as he's in a nursing home for the time being. Feel better now I've talked to him.
