Managed to regain my equilibrium, so could accept the beautiful flowers from DH graciously. They do look gorgeous.

I've just made chocolate cup cakes in pirate cake cases, and baked potatoes cut in half with sails made out of salami on cocktail sticks, to take to work tomorrow. My team are dressing up as pirates (I bought a pirate hat from eBay) to celebrate mine and a colleagues birthdays. The last birthday we all wore outrageous wigs.

24/20 AFDs now. Strange, I didn't have any wine urges today.

Glad you're feeling better 41. Cuppa, sorry that Bill is being a pain. Hugs for you both, and anyone else who needs them.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

Unfortunately i'm still seething, the annoyances have continued to unfold all evening as I realise more things.......I think Bill should have an award for "Top Inconsiderate G.i.t.". (can I say that here??, i'll edit if not).

Eating choc and drinking a cuppa.

Forgot to say 22/24 AFD's, nearly there! Found it harder this month, think its cos I used up my "passes" quickly and earlier on. However I haven't been tempted for the majority of the time and I have learnt now that if I don't implement my stop button, then its no fun dealing with kids in the night if I need too.

Last wednesday when DS was throwing up, I had indulge with family/friends in probably nearing 3 glasses of wine, 2 of which were topped up by others. I felt it, knew it and it made it more difficult to deal with sick child. I didnt feel "drunk" per se, just not as on the ball as normal. But then I think to myself, its rare I do that and I am never going to be able to predict when the kids will be ill to time it with an alcohol pass!

    Lone parenting fun eh?

Bill is definitely not on my xmas card list, honestly he makes it so hard to keep relations civil and for me to want to make the effort with him. ARGHHH, hopefully this will be out of my system by the morning..........LET IT GO, LET IT GO!!!

  • I'd do anything not to listen to a fat pig snoring on the settee across the way from me. My kids are fighting upstairs as they are really hyper. Men are completely useless and utterly selfish. I hate my man. 27 AF days.

Hi all mind if I join you?
I'm in a bit of a fiscal pickle at the moment and the booze isn't helping.
    Therefore I have stopped drinking.
I had a real blowout last Tuesday (after weightwatchers) and drank a bottle of wine and around 1/3 of a litre bottle of gin. At this point I found a book on my kindle about giving up alcohol for 7 days.
That pointed me in the direction of Allan Carr and here I am.
I like his approach about not giving up alcohol but just recognising that we don't have to have it.
I didn't drink on Weds but DH went shopping on Thursday and bought me my usual 2 bottled of red.
I drank one, it tasted awful and then told him I was stopping drinking. I told him to get rid of the other one.
After over 10 years of at least a bottle (often more) a night I have just stopped drinking. I am just pulling together my reason and will list them over the next few days.
The main ones being my liver feels like a brick and I am spending over £300 monthly on booze.
I hope you'll bear with me and help me along, I hope to be able to get to know and help some of you in turn.
So far, no drink since Thursday so that makes me 4 days alcohol free :j:j. I feel good for it too.
I was really worried I was going to have a fit or suffer some severe symptoms but apart from feeling like I have a cold (which I may have or they could just be symptoms) I feel fine.
Better go to bed now - back tomorrow

Welcome Joanne109, loads of lovely people and support on here

Cuppa - Thankfully my kids were ok on Tuesday, straight to school - they tend to be ill, then ok straight away. Sorry things with Bill aren't calming down, Im sure in time it will get easier

41 - I did laugh when I read your comment about the fat pig, but then realised how annoying(putting it lightly) it must be for you - I hope you find the strength to deal with it soon

No more AF for me to add - had a BH blowout :(
Aiming to be AF for the rest of the week

    Hi all

I have been MIA, day of communion on the way home ds got the chickenpox so we didn't get to the party, being at home with ds all week was good but not good as I knew I could drink alcohol as it was like I was on my holidays :( found out my nana passed away Saturday morning, we used to be close , I am the oldest grandchild and the sun shone out her bahookie, but as we get older we all change and she favoured the (what I can only describe as baddies) in the family, our family was torn apart because of 2, but 1 person in particular , I have a heavy heart but no guilt as we never argued or anything, last time I saw her at my sisters wedding, I gave her my number, told her to call or pop in for a cuppa anytime......that day never happened and now it's too late. So I only have 2 AF's to add bringing n me to 11AFDS Sorry for venting, I know everyone has worse problems than i do and hope you are all doing well, I hope to properly be back on the wagon soon xx

  • 28 AF days. I'm a bit panicky, a bit frightened and very disillusioned. My partner basically won't help me even though my benefit ends on 17th July.

Forgive my presumption as a newbie but I'm not sure if s/he is a "partner" under the circumstances

That second bottle of wine my husband bought me last Thursday has been playing on my subconscious all weekend and after my trip to WW tonight (gained) I finally succumbed.
The wine tastes bl**dy awful but taste appears to be improving as the level goes down.
He has now faithfully promised not to buy me any more alcohol (I have never in 20+ years seen him drink alcohol) so from tomorrow my future is in my hands.
I am going to try and be alcohol free until the end of the month and in the meantime have a good think about June and setting a target.

I have a friend visiting for the weekend in late June, she is one of my drinking buddies but is struggling to cut down so maybe I can talk to her beforehand and see if she is willing to go alcohol free with me for her visit.
Despite tonights lapse I am proud of my achievements, on days off I normally have a drink (bottle) over lunchtime/early afternoon then sleep for an hour or two before working through the second bottle in the evening.
I have been off work all weekend and not had anything until tonight.
I have the rest of the week off and am hoping that I won't be drinking anything else (alcohol wise) for the rest of the week.

    Joanne
