Hi everyone. Have drunk every day this month so far so epic fail. I have also not been on here which is probably why. When I visit this place regularly (like every day) I feel so much better and can manage to stay AF quite easily. Not v proud of myself. Going to be on holiday next week so will drink but will aim to be moderate. Will get back on the wagon after that. Planning on an AFD tomorrow and will report in.

I know exactly what you mean MrsDee.

After and AF night on Tuesday, I too had an epic fail last night - drank enough to feel slow and fed up this morning and I have a huge amount of stuff to do too!

Will be AF tonight though, for sure, can't waste and more time felling carp
    Trying to keep in budget.

Have to say I feel pretty grim today also. Thank you for the sympathies gien. I can't wait to get back to feeling full of the joys of spring every morning instead of carp......

Hi everyone, hugs to all who need and want them. I wish I could help you to feel better, I know for sure that alcohol does not, because I've tried and it is a monumental let-down. Everytime I had a problem, drink was there and only since joining this thread I have realised that because I haven't had a drink since April that I have just about managed to cope without it. If I was going out however, I would probably end up drinking, but for today I will be grateful just for not drinking in the house, which is where I usually do it anyway. It is a habit, and I really wish I could say I enjoyed it, but I only drank for the effect and the high and following low. I don't really like the taste of drink, and have never drunk and remained sensible, in control and always ended up upsetting someone or making a fool of myself. I am in control now, not the drug of choice. I know if I drink I have to take the consequences, I know what they will be. I will not be able to stop/regulate/control the amount or speed because I am so easily taken up in the atmosphere and people around me. I am easily led, and alcohol is thrown down my neck because people know that I will be the clown then, and believe me I don't need much encouragement. I want to enjoy without regret, I don't know how I'm going to do it. I have no magic spell, I have no ideas, but I do know I have a choice, and I do know the consequences, and I do know that I am the only one who ends up losing out when things go wrong, when I wreck things, relationships, my health, my life etc etc.

19/20 AFDs for me. I had to scroll back to find out how many I was up to - it's so much easier to keep a count when I abstain, lol.

Had ONE glass of wine with dinner last night. We had to be up at silly o'clock to start our return journey, but we're safely home now, and I've had a few hours sleep. No more booze until 29th which is my birthday, so I've given myself permission if wanted, although I have just booked myself into a dance class, so may not bother.

I have to say, I don't like the distended stomach in evidence after a week of stodgy (carb rich) food and some empty calories in the form of booze. Not much by way of fruit or veg either, boo. However, apart from Saturday's wedding, I was able to operate the stop button for the booze, which is heartening.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

    23 AFDs for me.

The last week has seen me rediscover tea. I'd drank it only extremely rarely (maybe once a year at most) over the past 15 years. But now I have got back into it big time, enjoying 3-4 cups/day. Fewer calories in that than one can of Irn Bru!

Not missed alcohol at all, not even when in the country for the weekend and that has, in past AF spells, led to me wishfilly gazing at the pumps that dispense sublime pints of foaming nut brown ales.
