18/20 AFDs, walked 7 miles, and at least 4 of those were down many, many steps as we explored the salt mines near Krakow - wonderful, but exhausting. Thankfully, we could go to the surface by lift, or I think we'd still be down there! What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0

Cuppa, there's a charity that asks for dog foster carers for when owners are ill, trouble is I can't remember what it is called. I think I've got the name of it in work, so if you can wait a week I'll try to remember to post it then. Thanks Satchmo, but honestly please don't worry, all the time we have a cat, I am not in a position to house any dog. I just like the idea! Appreciate the thought and one to hang on to the future with.
My liver is still objecting to Saturday's alcohol. Neither of us feel hungry, either - unheard of for DH who plans his life around food. You must have had a LOT of food then!
The sun is out here in Krakow, and we're booked to go on a tour of the Salt Mines this morning, we have to be at the Tourist office by 10am, but neither of us are entirely sure if we can remember the route to the Tourist office, so we'll set off half an hour earlier.Live for the moment and plan for the future0 -
Oh dear 41, things do seem bad, is there anyone as Tracy said that can do some translating for you. Or is there a way of you typing a script for someone to read to him or record to play it to him? Faffy I know, but as least you can voice your thoughts.
Tracy, I a dread night like that, I hope I am not tempting fate by saying that. Fingers crossed. I've only ever had one ill at a time and only ever one end at a time. Bill would have been here to help then too. Fortunately my two are very rarely ill, but i'm just going to touch the bannister to banish away those ill bugs. Fingers crossed your poor littlies recover quickly without infecting you!Live for the moment and plan for the future0 -

Just read back, meant my DD has the squits!
Trust me, you soon get used to doing it all yourself - I've just text their dad to let him know - I always keep him in the loop, and he was more concerned for me!
Like you, mine are rarely ill, and always help when one or the other throws up, tissue/sick bowl and water runs lol!
They've been asleep for a few hours now, so should go all the way through, fingers crossed

Quite often once the kids get in from school I don't have another adult conversation until the next day, usually meaningless pleasantries with other mums or work colleagues.
I;ve examined my own behaviours and asked the few friends I have to be honest with me, but they are drawing blanks. I know I am very sensitive so try not to take things literally. E.g. one mum used to be very friendly to me but now will barely say hello. I try to think well the only thing we have in common is our kids at school, ordinarily our paths wouldn't cross. Its just hurtful when I just feel so on the outside of everything in every aspect in my life. But I do realise I need to take some responsibility for this
I found this really interesting as I felt exactly the same as this when my children were younger. I always needed to change my behaviours in order to fit in with the crowd and I really didn't feel comfortable. There were always the popular mums with many hangers on, the in - crowd who eyed you with suspicion and those like me who hung around the edges never really being part of any group.
I always felt awkward and never relaxed in their company even though I actively sought it.
Two things I have realised over the years:
1) that I have forced myself to realise I don't fit, have made a decision not to try to fit and have cultivated the very good friendships I have with the fewer close friends I have known for years. They don't live near me and I have to arrange to meet them but I feel happy and secure in their company.I have long given up the search for other friends and now feel content
2) that many, many people feel exactly the same way as me and that society puts undue pressure on us to live in some kind of social whirl and that we must be 'odd' or 'wierd if we don't. Its nonsense and I believe that if I have a few friends I can trust implicitly then I'm a very lucky girl.
It can be lonely bringing up kids and spending lots of time on your own. I always listened to the radio, particulary bbc4 or 5 as it makes you feel connected rather than the TV which can make you feel isolated.
You are like most other people I know, who feel that everyone else is having a better, more sociable, livelier, more fulfilled life than you. Fact is its usually not the case.
Kind regards
Slowdown:)0 -
