That's around £3600 per year.:eek: and the reason I am maxed out on plastic

It's the tax part I object to as well - propping up this government. In knocking off the booze I am also reducing my "taxation footprint"

Welcome Freebyfifty - I was also getting well into the 2nd bottle a night

Hi all, 17 AFDs for me please Shaggy :)

Hope people are doing ok, welcome Joanne109, you will find a lot of support in this thread. It has helped me no end :)
  • Hi everyone, welcome to all the newbies. I'm not usually this maudling honest lol. If you need anything at all, advice, support, someone to shout out via the keyboard, we are all here, we have all been there and we've all got the bottletops to prove it.
I am not afraid of the future, since last month when I went out on a 50th birthday, I have not drunk. This has saved me a lot of money, believe me if you look back at my posts my signature looks a whole lot better than it did before. Also, when I got drunk or mellow, my answer was shopping online which I have dramatically cut down, I now pay bills as soon as I have the money, I pay extra off my credit card so that by July 2014 my 0% balance transfer card will be cleared, what I'm trying to do is pay off so much so that it works out that the amount divided by the amount of months left at 0% works out to the minimum payment which is £25 and then I will set up a direct debit for £25. So everything is ok in financial terms at the moment, I have a £200 overdraft available since last night, which I'm hoping I won't need but according to Martin the God of Money it is better to have one there rather than pay the unauthorized fees, I really hope I don't need it as its £1 a day for the days you use it, considering changing to First Direct, have you read the newsletter it sounds good, but Halifax have been great honestly.
Remember, that we will all die one day, but that doesn't mean that you have to live your life waiting for it to come. Forget about it, if it comes it comes, it probably won't but if it does you won't know anything about it. Alcohol has robbed me of my years, my looks, my friends, family and partners, now its payback time. No more wasted time, time for the me inside to come out whether its other people's cup of tea or not, take me as I am, no point in hiding behind the bottle, every binge ends in waking up with a hangover and facing the music, so I hope this clarifies how I feel, please remind me if I end up drinking please lol.

Tesco Credit Card £250 £25 DD 0% for next 10 months.

Barclaycard Initial £241.45 0% for next 7 mths.
    Your parents choose your beginning....
.... you get to choose the ending.

    Thanks 41
I've been following your journey reading back on this thread. I'm currently up to mid March and I've found some very inspiring stories

  • Thanks for the welcome 41 and thank you shaggy for the dancing smilie for my May AFDs - brought a big cheesy grin to my face :D

I will definitely keep popping along to this thread. Had a difficult day today and really wanted a glass of wine but resisted the urge as I knew I would feel even worse in the morning. It's not so long ago I would have used any excuse to have a drink. I know it's very early days but I am starting to think differently about drink.

Hi Joanne and FF, lovely to meet you and have you on board. Glad you have your feet under the table already.

41 - hi <waves>, sorry to hear about your benefits troubles. I know that one all too well, was down the jobcentre today. I really hope you find the strength to do whatever you need to do and one day you will wake up happier and wonder how you lived like you did for so long. One day at a time though.

Bill and I talked on the phone last night and squared up the issues that had developed. Its a hard long road, but the children still link us so it has to be done.

First time in ages I drank on my own tonight, but in moderation, two measured units and i really didn't want anymore. I'm happy with that too. Tonight was going to be me reaching target, but tomorrow i'll be driving, so it will still happen in time. Strange how much i could feel 2 units now, i am much more in tune with my body, before 2 units wouldn't have touched the sides.

Kids doing ok, we had a lovely chat around the table, using our imaginations and being silly. I wish they didn't have to grow up, these are magical ages. Sometimes I feel sorry for Bill when I have times like these with them, he is missing out on so much. I feel sad that I had nobody else to share that moment with, but at least I had it. We've probably created a long standing "in" joke that will last for the rest of half term now.

Right I'd better be off, i'm still in the process of applying for other jobs, seeing as my current one has told me extra hours are off the cards (for third time of raising my hopes up).
Live for the moment and plan for the future

Reporting in with another AF day here - honestly, coming on this thread everyday makes a huge difference to my desire to drink!

Thanks for keeping the scores Shaggy. For June I am going to go for 20AF days - basicall a full school night challenge every week.
And I shall try and be moderate in between times.
    Trying to keep in budget.

Alcohol free today - therefore 6 to report this month (I would never have dreamed of even 1 at the start of the month) and around £7-8 saved today :j:j and around £60 saved altogether

    Morning :hello:

Just read my BP 3 times and my lower pressure was high on all 3 readings. Given everything I'm going through I guess I'm that not surprised, but I must get it down - so on the wagon until it comes down again, along with less caffeine, less salt, more fruit and veg and more exercise and oh yes more relaxing.....

    Off to update.
