    Evening

Things are going ok here on the alcohol front - just 2 units last night and 4 Sunday. Also I have been getting lots of walking in.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Hi everyone, bad news my auntie passed away, she had been in intensive care for 6 weeks today. They tried for over an hour to resuscitate her. RIP. That makes 6 deaths in about 2 months, starting to feel a bit numb.

Deepest sympathy 41. That must feel unrelenting - my eldest sister was just saying to me (she was diagnosed with breast cancer last summer) that she feels like one of those frogs at a fair ground - she keeps popping up and this great big hammer keeps coming and knocking her down again - so then we both sang "I get knocked down but I get up again...." Life is Hard.

    Hi all

    30/30 AFDs for me!

I know if I go out I can happily have a couple of glasses of wine and then stop. I know that if I have wine in the house, I'll finish the lot then start looking around at what else there is - even spirits, which I don't actively choose normally. So, I won't have wine in the house now. I have got a little bottle of red wine in the fridge for cooking, but it hasn't tempted me.

Sorry for all your troubles 41, so many bereavements in such a short space of time! I hope your family health worries clear up quickly.
My mum (who is 83) is unwell at the moment, so I told my brother to visit her at the weekend. He ended up taking her to hospital on Saturday and staying there til the early hours of Sunday. Went suspecting a heart attack, but all the tests ruled that out and the conclusion is that she was feeling poorly because of a) a wound infection and b) the antibiotics prescribed for said wound. The wound was from removal of a skin cancer (non-malignant). She has had at least 8 "spots" removed over the last few years - her skin is now very fragile and doesn't heal easily.

I'll be visiting this weekend; generally I don't choose to drive up for a BH weekend as the 3 hours drive takes 4-5 on a BH.

My son went to visit today, again on my instruction, so I'm off to ring him for an update, then ring mum for a chat and update.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

I love this it applies so well to both of you! Hugs to you both.

MrsR, sorry to hear things aren't improving, I was kind of hoping they would. I'll still send positive thoughts your way.

  • Thanks for the humungous supportive messages, and lots of really wise and truthful posts, I am learning so much. Had a little cry earlier and feel so much better for it. My dad who is 83 in December is ill and in pain and my mum has shingles and her sister died yesterday evening. To top it all I tried to put bunk beds together on my own and even though I followed the instructions and double-checked it, I made a right crock up of it, partner had to finish it off. That makes me laugh now, as the panic is over and my kids will have their first nights sleep in it now, I don't know why I get so upset over things which really don't matter.
So to end this month on a high, drum roll....
27 AF out of 30, 2 drinking nights on hols, one of which was half a lager and other was a couple of pints, the other was a bit of a bender on a 50th birthday do. Looking forward to May, so lucky to be here and getting a chance to put things right.
