Hi all, 2 AFDs for me please
Still waiting to hear about the house, don't think I will have any finger nails left at this rate!
Still no heating/hot water and no contact from landlord. Think I can safely assume it's showers at the gym 'til then. I will be fitter than I ever have been
Hope everyone is ok0 -
Didn't realise there was a thread for this. Can I join please? I stopped alcohol for an indefinite period on Monday but the objective is 30 days for April.0

TY all
Cuppa - yes, I met this guy on the dating site, finally found a good(ish!) one - honestly never thought I would, but after being separated from ex for over 5 years I am happy
Its always a learning curve in a new relationship, but am positive we can work round issues
No AF for me so far in April, we went out for a Groupon meal last night, it came with some wine, so wouldn't have been moneysaving to not have it - plus I needed something to knock me out to block out snoring lol
WB old posters, good to see you all

Hi All
Just popping in with an update, done something on Saturday I have never done before and wanted to share. Every now & again a crowd of us go to a Tribute night in a hotel which consists of meeting up for lunch = alcohol, checking in to hotel = meeting up in one anothers room with our drink we have brought with us. Go downstairs for more alcohol before going back to room to get a shower & sober up before going for dinner, dancing & more alcohol .
I didn't have any alcohol with lunch :TI had one tiny glass of wine out the bottle and supped it whilst doing my nails, went downstairs with a tipsy lot & had coffee. That was a big deal for me as usually I am drunk before the everning entertainment has started, I did have a bottle of wine with meal but it lasted me the whole night. I took the wine home with me from the hotel & drank it on Sunday as Monday was a holiday (I forgot It was Easter Monday this week), never counted that in my target but I should still be ok, we have a lot of social things on this month.
I also had no wine when hubby was having beer on our "date night" as maman put it, that was a first in goodness knows how long, I had my hot chocolate & he had a few beers, and you know what, it was fine, the bottom didn't fall out the earth after all :rotfl:
2/25 for me pleaseShaggy (thats including tonight):TGratitude is the best Attitude :T

Well done macpep!
Alcohol used to rule me so much that I used to really resent it if we went out and I was driving and my OH would be drinking and I wasn't. Alcohol seemed to close off so many avenues to me that I wasn't aware of until stopping drinking.
Even to the point of, the new house we've applied for will be quite a way from our friends, and if we'd still been drinking we probably wouldn't have applied for it because meeting up with friends would probably mean one of us driving and therefore not being able to have a drink - god forbid! Also, we wouldn't be able to afford it if we were still drinking
So it's quite alarming for me to think about how restrictive alcohol made my life0 -

I know, as many others have said before me, my day would be work & then planning which shop I would go to on the way home or if I dare risk waiting to see if DH would finish in time (ie before 10) so he could bring me wine in, I just wanted to see how I would feel doing that, not sure if it was because I knew I was having a drink later that made it easier.
Everything crossed that you get the house, you deserve it after all your hard work :A:TGratitude is the best Attitude :T

Thanks, I hope so too
One of my friends just posted about this organisation on Facebook - it looks like a great idea, not sure if there are more of them around the country? I know we have the Costas and Starbucks etc, but this place gives back to those who have been affected by addiction.
They have also introduced this initiative apparently, I just think it's really inspiring when others think of innovative ideas like this to help others0 -
Just read a few of today's posts as been awol over the weekend. Glad to hear you're getting in control macpep.
I can identify exactly with what you're saying about staying in a hotel. I've just been away since Friday and the change in my behaviour is amazing. Previously I'd have had a drink (or two) with (or instead of) lunch. Then drinks from a bottle in my room while I was getting ready. Then far more than everyone else during the evening so that I was unsteady and embarrassing. I hated that I'd always drained my glass before everyone else. Then back in my room a nightcap. All I've had this weekend has been about a half bottle over dinner and the odd glass pre-dinner in the bar. I've been totally in control of my drinking rather than the other way round.
I must admit that I've enjoyed it and had considered letting my weekend extend right across this week. Have decided against that and coming on here is helping. Tonight will be my first AF night of April.
Plus although my drinking was in control I can't say the same for eating! So definitely don't need the calories!:rotfl:0
