    4/30 AFDs for me.
    Welcome Spongy.
Boss, why are you stuck in your flat?

My (more than a month) early birthday present arrived today - a saxophone - a bargain from eBay. It has been on my bucket list for decades. Drinking won't be an option while I learn how to play, as two hands and a mouth will be busy holding, fingering keys and "taw" ing (taw is the sound to make with ones lips/mouth, I've learned today). I surprised myself when I made some decent notes after just 5 minutes, but it will take time to build lip muscle strength (who knew that lips had muscles).

What with running and music-making, I won't have time for much else in the evenings.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

    Hi all

[/B]3rd AFD for me please SHAGGY

    Welcome Spongy

thank you for sharing your story, you have done really well, I never went to AA as I wouldn't say I was an alcoholic (both parents are/were). For me the first step was telling someone I had a problem, I told everyone on this thread,. My DH never said I had a problem and always got me wine when I asked for it and my family and friends never knew how much I drank, like you I was at least a bottle a night but more at weekends because I wasn't driving next day! I am just at the start of my journey and didn't do too well in march, only 7 days AF but it was better than nothing at all!

I wish you all the luck in the world and everyone on here has been so encouraging and supportive. I overcame a hurdle (to me) at the weekend and am facing. Huge challenge with the target I have set this month meaning I am only allowing myself alcohol on a Saturday!

Brilliant idea getting the sax satchmo. Penny just dropped why you chose your name!

I remember that a good tip for keeping AF is to keep your hands busy but to use your mouth (and not for snacking) is a brilliant idea.

Good to 'see' you mackeroo. You've made a good start to the month.

2 AFDs for me please Shaggy.

EDIT I HAVE UPDATED #1422 WITH THE MOST RECENT AFDs
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Sorry guys still on a big fat zero for April had a drink with the people I was working with yesterday as we don't often all get together.

Have had some good news today my PPI claim came through and I have paid off my overdraft and £250 off my CC. I have left myself with a little in my emergency fund just in case. This has reduced my debt free date by 4 months :j

Tonight I am being taxi for my DD and her Bf so it will def be AF :D lets hope this kick starts my April!

Hope everyone is Ok on this lovely Friday.

    Mari x
  • Morning everyone,

I didn't manage any more than 5 AFD's last month but I don't think I did too bad for a first attmempt (although could have been miles more if I'd tried).

So this month, I was debating whether to join in again or not as this month hasn't started off too good and it's also 10 days til DH gets paid.

Anyway I am here and I pledge 10 AFD's this time around.

Welcome to the club spongy, they're a helpful lot here :D

Well done for coming back and your 5 for March proves you can do it!!:T I'd have thought that saving money would be a good motivation (I know it's that and calories that keeps me on the straight and narrow).

Great news about the PPI mari and well done for being so sensible with it. It's amazing how people are intent on saving and paying off debts these days. I think that's the silver lining to the recession.
