Every car park is unique and sometimes thinking has to be done by the landowner and interested parties. But bringing in clampers is a sure way of losing customers as ultimately they are the ones clamped. They were made illegal because of their knuckle dragging illegal activities, and deserve to be out of business.
The only place for parking companies in their present format is liquidation, they lie, intimidate, threaten, illegally operate, and have no place in parking management, as they don't actually do that, cameras on entry/exit is not management!0 -
In the situation I quoted, it was never the customers who were affected, just those that used a private car park as a free parking area, whilst the true cusomers were paying for, but unable to use it.
I really find that hard to believe, there never were ethical clampers and they would clamp anyone to fill their pockets of money. I can almost guarantee that if you give the location of this place I would be able to find someone clamped who simply were there legitimatelyWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. I am just doing the equivalent of what you want with parking. in effect a free for all.
Yet again you have got the wrong end of the stick. Nobody on here advocates a "free for all" in private car-parks. We tell people to pay the parking fee (if there is one) and not to abuse disabled bays. What we don't like is the stupid charges demanded by PPCs for breaking their silly rules. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

But the jist of this thread is not about the level of charging, but about putting the parking companies out of business by taking away the only means they have of tracking down "culprits".
I can see an argument for legislation on levels of charging though.0 -

Croydon - legit parking is £2.00 to £5.00 per hour, or £10.00 for the day.
Croydon is a pretty big place, that is not a location to the car park you mentioned its just a name of a town, it's as much use as saying some place outside of LondonWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

Some people were saving themselves £50 per week by parking in our car park, whereas the tenants who were paying for parking spaces had to pay the rates for other parking in addition. How can that be fair?0 -

How can clamping be fair where modern day highway men held you to ransom ? The thing about car parks is that landlords and landowners should have got their house in order years ago instead of passing their obligations to thugs and companies that don't manage anything.
Now that obligation is back with the people who own these car parks they will need to invest money if they value the space outside their front door.
The only way that these companies make money is by leaching off the customers of the businesses they profess 'to protect' , they would go out of business if they only went after people who were not customers. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you.
