The UKIP defectors are in denial still and it will take time for them to come to their senses and realise that handing Labour some marginal seats will deliver just the outcome that they are desperate to avoid.

Also many don't believe that there will ever be a referendum based on past treacheries. The good thing about putting it on the table now is that it has two years to 'soak' and become a reality in the public consciousness. Announce it just before the 2015 election and nobody would have taken a blind bit of notice.

BNP quite clearly is racist though.

I think they may have at least one other policy.

What has racism got to do with it?

Just out of curiosity, do you not feel just the tiniest bit stupid calling Cameron "Posh boy Dave" when Miliband lives in a £2million+ house & him & his partner earn more than a quarter of a million a year between them? Hardly one of the common people is he.

As far as I can see the only difference between the two of them posh-wise is that Cameron doesn't try to hide it wheras Miliband pretends to represent "hardworking families".

Don't expect to see Miliband moving into a nice little 2-bed semi in Hackney anytime soon.

Ed Millband is the son of Polish Jewish immigrants. Look at Posh Boy's history in comparison. Ed's wife is a practising Barrister. Cameron's wife does nothing useful. Privileged backgrounds doesn't even to begin to explain the Cameron's elitism. To compare Milliband's background to them is totally spurious.

You changed your views? Are you now in favour in principle of remaining in the EU subject to a matter of negotiations on specifics? Persuasive chappy that David Cameron.

As regards "anyone serious" advocating leaving the EU, it's only been 2 days. Give them time.

I said it was official party policy, but I am not an official party spokesperson so my view could be different. But overall I support the approach being taken because there are divided opinions and time should be allowed for the EU to come to its senses and for the issues to be widely aired. Given a referendum tomorrow I would vote out. But like any sensible person I will reserve final judgment until the time. My heart will almost certainly always say out. But often the head should rule the heart and a lot can change between now and 2017 so we'll wait and see.

If any Tory Member of Parliament publicly speaks against the policy in the future, so be it. It happens in all parties. Doesn't mean that the policy is wrong or will get changed. Come a referendum they will have their day in court and can vote as they see fit. Believe it or not there are a number of Eurosceptics in the Parliamentary Labour Party (not the LibDems though -- they haven't got anybody that realistic).

Is this genuinely an argument about who is less middle class out of the son of an academic and the son of a stockbroker?

The really sad thing is that some people think that it matters and let it affect the way they vote.

Says more about you and the people you socialise with really.

Really? Who would that be then? How would a moron like you even begin to guess who I socialise with? Your limit is making snide comments from the security of an anonymous Internet Forum.
