I can eat stuff like that too & not put on weight, but I would never give my kid coke to drink for their lunch as a regular thing - your health could be ok (for now) but what about their teeth?

Have to agree... My OH was allowed to drink as much coke as he wanted as a kid and his teeth are dreadful now, he has to have teeth capped etc and general rot. I was only allowed sugar free squash or water and I have had 0 dentistry issues since I was young.

Today my kids had a small (homemade) bacon, cheese and tomato quiche, a banana and a pot of yoghurt.

Some days they get a sandwich and some days they get raw veg with a hummus dip.

The school has a "no crisps and chocolate" rule.

Its not just about weight though is it, some people just have high metabolism or extra active.

The fact is thin people have heart attacks too and viseral fat around the organs is present in thin people too, sometimes even more so.

    DD 6
    tub of carrot sticks

    DS 4
    2/3 ham wrap (other 1/3 i had)
small tub cherry toms and cucumber slices
3 pear quarters from a tin (no juice but he dislikes the skin so find it easier this way)
    slice of his birthday cake
    NAS squash

He gets fruit at nursery in the morning and i send a soya milk carton in to go with it as he is lactose intollerant so can't have the normal milk. He gets a slice of toast at 4 and is collected at 5 today.

DD is on a snow day and at grandads, she insisted on taking carrot sticks as i was cutting them up for my lunch.
  • Not gonna be dragged into the handbags at dawn.

    But DS today for his lunch (he is 2 and a bit) had;

Small bowl of tomato soup (Heinz )
2 slices of buttered bread (Hovis )
    Banana
    Handful of Blueberries

and then about an hour later

a small cup of tea :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

DD(8) had a tuna, sweetcorn and pasta salad, a frube, an apple, a kiwi and a penguin - water bottle to drink

DS (6) had a ham sandwich, a frube, an apple, a kiwi and a penguin - water bottle to drink.

Fairly normal run of the mill stuff, neither massively unhealthy, nor without a treat.

Btw, there's no such thing as sugar free squash or fruit juice.
