My childs school only allow
water or fresh juice (not even a carton of ribena is allowed)
no crisps
1 snack (chocolate bars are not permitted)
fruit etc all OK
I once sent eldest in with a cake (was her birthday so put a chocolate cake in, a brownie I think) and got a letter sent home reminding me.
Yet they have muffins as part of school lunches and allow sausage rolls and cheese strings and processed food - so go figure.0 -
Sounds like a nice selection for your DS Pinkshoes. Just a word of warning though from someone who has been there and worn that t-shirt! I always have (and still do) cook from scratch every evening and have always encouraged healthy options however that doesn't stop 16 yo DS choose pizza regularly for his lunch. It's very easy to be 'shocked' about what others do when your children are little - just be careful as you don't know what you've got ahead (a piece of excellent advice given to me when mine were all little) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Peachyprice, I hope your popcorn is low sodium, sugar free and from cruelty free/ non gm crops, or beware a pasting.
DD is home poorly today but had lentil and bacon soup, sourdough, a slab of chocolate cake and a smoothie, it would have been in her packed lunch anyways.0 -
My DD is 9 and has:
Cheese and pickle sandwich on white (alternate between this, ham and corned beef with Friday being jam sandwich day!)
Fromage Frais
Cereal bar
Small packet of biscuits from multipack

DD is 3. She's at home today but preschool have a no crisps cakes or sweets policy so she usually has a sandwich with ham, cheese or meat paste in, an apple, a yoghurt, two Babybel cheeses and sometimes a School Bar (fruit) or an Organix carrot cake bar which the preschool seems to be ok with.
Preschool provide healthy snacks.

My youngest 2 have a cheese sandwich, tub of breadsticks, banana, small yoghurt and a homemade slice of banana loaf, this is a typical lunch for school, except on a Friday when they have a small packet of crisps ( quavers or skips) and instead of the cake have an extra piece of fruit.
No doubt the granola brigade will come along and tell posters how terrible they are! But in my opinion, it's all about balance. Calories in calories out all in moderation!
My children get treats but they are also very active so I feel we have reached a good dietary balance.0
