Yep, Rang MBNA just now and alerted them, also referenced this forum to let them know of similar complaints. They have no contact details for this "Tech Giants" firm so have passed it over to their fraud investigation team. They have said they will get back in touch within 5 working days. Transaction put on hold on my account and I will not be charged or out of pocket in any way.
My cc company told me they could not put mine on hold. I would be charged interest if I didn't pay it but could claim that back (they say)0 -
My credit card was charged on Sun 20th too, £1000. Just shown up late today on my transactions. I have spoken to my card provider tonight to block the card, but will deal with their fraud team tomorrow. It is apparently showing as a Chip & PIN transaction so I'm not sure how that works, and the company is apparently 'automotive spares' according to their transaction records with the bank. Looks like it was a widespread effort.0

1000 pound!! Mine was tiny compared to that. Automotive spares eh? I ain't even got a car.really need to know how they got these cc details. Let us all know how you get on. And who is your provider? Seems to be a big thing as you say with lots of different providers0 -
Is the Co-op, waiting to talk to their fraud people at/after 9am today as it seems other victims are too, the card is never out of my possession and I always shield the PIN from view, so I think the perpetrators must have a way of making it look like Chip & PIN when it's actually done remotely.
Will post again if any useful info comes out of bank chat.0 -
Nice man in the fraud team says not necessarily anything to do with Techgiants themselves who may be legit, but fraudsters may be using them to buy stuff they want or 'test' cards that they have stolen details for from another source.
The fact that all merchants hold card details for a limited period to get the money from the card provider for an internet transaction is the weak point as if there's a dishonest person with access to that info they may store it for later use.
This was not actually Chip & PIN as I was told last night, but the usual remote (internet/phone) way of nicking details, and they have assured me the money will be refunded within 2 WD.
If there's a specific focus or flurry of activity noted geographically or with a specific site or merchant the police will be involved.
Will post again when I see the dosh returned, hope it's simple for all affected to get their money back too.0 -

Nice man got it nearly right....
ALL retailers hold the FULL card details on their systems for auditing purposes. THis should be for 6 years... So the tax man says...
When I say ALL I mean ALL. That includes your supermarket etc. While your reciept may only show 8 of the 16 numbers. The retailers side has it all....
Which is why any staff member at a retailer that has access to till rolls, takes orders over the phone, etc. Should have to go through a FULL vetting process, just like bank staff do.
But I guess that would cost retailers money and mean they can't get most of the staff they do, as they would not pass muster. ( No disrespect to the vast majority of these staff menbers )Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
