Halifax and Lloyds fast payments (FB) service on the blink

The real issue here isn't with LLoyds/Halifax but with people having inflated expectations.
Payments need to have been completed by the end of a business day (which in some cases could be the next business day)- - and from what I can gather, all payments due yesterday were completed yesterday.
The fact that sometimes payments are completed a lot faster is neither here nor there. We do not have a right to expect payments to be completed instantly, or within 2 hours - - the only right we have is to expect the payments to complete by the end of the next business day.
The fact that some of you got a tenner or so when they rang CS is also neither here nor there - - in many cases it is a lot cheaper for the bank to just sling a tenner to the caller than to entertain them for longer.
This isn't to say it's not annoying / infuriating when a website doesn't do what it should do - - but it does happen from time to time. The world goes on.
The issue here for me is that the bank is holding on to money that is rightfully mine. My standing order is due to be paid into my account on the 20th of each month. So should have been paid yesterday due to the weekend. This has been set up for over 5 years long before the FP system.
I am not a Lloyds customer but have been affected by their mess up. I still don't have my money despite promises that it would be resolved by 7pm yesterday, I have had 4 items bounce from my account so far at a charge of £32 by Barclays with many more to bounce tomorrow if this is not resolved and no-one will help me to get my charges back!! Barclays won't help as its not their fault and Lloyds won't help cos I'm not their customer so I'm now £32 down through no fault of my own.
I am now fed up of being promised that the situation will be resolved and it not happening and in the meantime Lloyds and Barclays are happily making money out of me which I can little afford to lose!0 -

I think you'll find a lot of people pay their tax bill near the deadline. There may be many reasons for this (maximising interest, not having the money spare, being too busy and so on) and it's not "silly".
Similarly, many companies delay payment to other companies until the last moment because it is profitable and beneficial to do so.0 -

This is nothing new for Halifax for the last two years some of my payments go fast pay, others do not. I have taken this up with Halifax on several occassions and been informed the problems will be sorted out 'shortly'.
The problem I have been informed each time is that when Halifax and Lloyds merged their computer systems were different.Because of this Halifax problems were caused by the use of the Lloyds systems but both Lloyds and Halifax would be switching to the Halifax systems once both had been mergered on the Lloyds one.
I gave up on Halifax 'fast pay' last year switching money to a more reliable bank0 -

So some Lloyds customers have been a day or so late in receiving money.
Bear in mind that most Natwest / RBS / Ulster Bank customers had similar problems last summer that lasted the best part of a month. There are people who have much greater issues with their bank than you do.0 -

Still no wages. RBS were told late this afternoon that all payments made yesterday will have to be resent. No good for me as boss is still on holiday, have had to borrow money to cover until he gets back.Wins
