  • So just gone through my monthly spends for this month - my CC hasn't actually reset yet but I'm at my £300 limit so can't spend any more any way. I've spent a large chunk on going out this month which is just annoying! I guess it was my birthday though and at least I am still below my spends limit - could have been worse!! BF let me take his card food shopping last night so that's a nice chunk of pennies I won't have to spend in October and therefore should have extra to overpay come November payday (I work a month behind in real money terms as I use my cashback CC as my monthly spends account).

A couple of overtime shifts this weekend should mean I can throw a fair few extra pennies at the BC. It's going down!!

Need to go for a run tonight - I think I need some new trainers as my feet are starting to get a little sore. Will have to see about fitting it into my monthly spends budget.

  • Just reporting in after a quiet weekend - worked two overtime shifts during the day today and yesterday, got an extra £80 to put toward my BC. I shall round it up to £90 as that will mean my % numbers remain intact! I'll be on 93% of my £3k target - as soon as I hit through that I will carry on paying down the BC as quickly as possible, there will be just over £1k left on it which I hope to get rid of ASAP. Then my NW CC will be getting attacked!! Grrrr!! This debt needs to do one!!

Went out for a couple of drinks last night which was nice to see the girls. Only spent £10 so not going to feel bad about that!

Need to get on with the exercising this week. Did 3 sessions last week and I'd really like to get 4 under my belt. I may treat myself to some new trainers as mine are starting to make my feet hurt. Just wish some of this chub would start disappearing

  • Cheeky little signature update on a Monday morning - my fixed DD has gone over to the BC so I'm now on £2700 paid off it so far this year :j Got another £90 to send over later today when I get to the bank so that will leave me with £210 to pay to hit my £3k target!! I wonder how low I can get the balance by the end of 2013?!

  • Just added my NSD totals up - 19 for the month, oopsy clearly I've taken my eye off the ball somewhat. Not a bad total though really. Just need to keep it tight for the next couple of months as Christmas approaches. Planned the majority of my present shopping and I have already started picking up a few bits and pieces. I adore Christmas, we're so busy at work but everyone is just in such a good mood :D Getting ahead of myself there though, back to October (as if it is OCTOBER tomorrow?!!?) I'll go for a nice even 20 NSDs means I can be strict but not quite as strict as I have to be to hit 25!

  • Hi DFB30,

Just read most of your thread and congrats on everything you have achieved so far - like others have said it's great you've realised before turning 30.

One thing that stood out to me reading through is that you say if you have no overtime you have no extra money and also that you have a fair bit of spare time.

Have you looked at doing something fun to make some extra cash - not like surveys and cashback but like little jobs?

I started building small websites and writing blog posts for other website owners. All was free to learn and do, I found it enjoyable and it made a massive dent in my debts when I did it. Not sure what you job/skillset is but I'm sure there would be a way of you earning more cash if you wanted to.

The benefit for me, apart from the money, was doing something proactive so my mind didn't dwell on the fact I didn't have any money.
  • Hi FN, thanks for swinging by!

I may look into your suggestion although we are fast careering toward December which is by far my busiest month. There won't be much time to do a whole lot and I'll have to do quite a few extra hours and won't get to put them through as over time :( ah well such is life and I actually really enjoy the festivities cos everyone is in such a good mood!! Booked the rest of my time off for the holiday year so I'll have a nice break after Xmas eve and then 2 weeks off at the end of January with BF. It's his birthday at the start of February too so I'll have to make plans and do something nice!! Cheap but nice haha!!

Need to sort out my signature and update my totals as I get closer to paying my £3k target off the BC - I'll hit that come October payday so need to reset and see how fast I can get rid of everything. Interest free periods on both my BC and NW cards end in April so I need to pay as much as I can between now and then. I think the BC will be gone for sure and then the NW card won't take too long because my loan also finishes in April so all the money I've been throwing at those 2 debts will all converge onto the NW, it'll be gone in no time!! Here's hoping anyway :T

Went for a run last night, my feet are killing me today so may have to bite the bullet and get some new trainers. Either that or I'll try and last until Christmas :o not sure if I'll manage that but I have seen some that should be ok for £30. That's not going to break the bank at least. Definitely didn't want to get out of bed this morning, it's oh so dark and dank now :(

  • Grrrr just wrote a whole post and it's deleted it!!!

Going to update my signature to reflect what I have left to pay... that was pretty much the gist of the post!!

I have £1641.96 left on my BC which is on interest free until 1st April 2014, I'll hit my £3K target come payday this month so all steam ahead now to get rid of the whole lot.

According to my snowball app I'm still on for an August DFD but I shall keep overpaying as quickly as I can and get this magical day to come round as soon as possible!!

  • That's quite sobering looking at my new figures... at the start of this year I owed over £9,000  I'm over half way there paying it all off so that's not bad going. Just need to keep my foot on the gas now and push on through. All being well I'll be debt free by the time I'm 28 and I should have started putting away savings for my house deposit!! BF is already saving like a demon so I need to catch up!!

  • A nice quiet weekend draws to a close, they come by so quickly yet pass so fast as well!! Went to watch our local team play football yesterday, it was free with work as we're a sponsor so that's all ok! Treated myself to some new trainers and a pair of running shorts :o £40 in total which is naughty but I will still be within my spending budget. Just means I have no excuse to get out and about exercising now!! Only did one run this whole week. BAD BAD BAD!! Went for a walk and a tastecard roast dinner this afternoon and now we're making our way through the Harry Potter films (again). Geeks!

Nothing much planned this week, got to keep quiet on the spending front. Pay day is a week on Tuesday so not too long to wait. I'm hoping I can get to the end of this month by only spending £200 leaving me with an extra £100 to overpay the BC. Fingers crossed.
