  • Not wishing to appear pedantic, but any self respecting genuine legal company would not make two basic spelling errors on the first page of their website, whether English is their first or second language or not. The first spelling mistake is the very first word! Add to that, when I returned an answer-phone message, they answered the call "Customer Services" , and not with the company name. Even if they are genuine I don't think I'd want such a shoddy operation representing me. The person representing Litigation Services SL was a Cathy McDonald, offering a no obligation review of my case for a paid for but undelivered furniture pack from MRI. She claimed that Darragh MacAnthony's £20m Spanish villa and other assets had been frozen by a Malaga court and that everything was now in place to compensate the various people MRI had ripped off. Strange there's nothing on the internet about this court ruling?
  • Hi

Like others who have posted, I am torn between the hope of seeing some cash back from our dealings in 2004 with MRI and the worry about being scammed.

Today, out of the blue, a very nice sounding Caroline Clark called. She seemed genuine and knowledgeable (so now I'm getting worried) and we too have been tempted with perhaps a £25k payout.

Her initial email provided little real detail so I've responded with some basic and obvious questions about upfront costs etc. I do worry that if this is yet another scam then they are suckering people in by paying out some early claims to encourage others. But would seem a risky strategy if they are genuinely operating out of :-

    Calle Coronel Ripollet
    Edf Santo Rein 3ºA

I'll post updates when I hear more.
  • Been contacted by Litigation Services who use the same office as Delta Litigation. On query of this I got some waffle about sister company! I was also contacted 2 or 3 year's back from another company with same Opus-mundi about my dealings with mri who have never had any successful results. All companies seem to have a great deal of knowledge but bottom line is they want money upfront. I have searched extensively for an independent lawyer here and in Spain to act, but it always comes back to the same answer. Apart from the fact that the property in question is in Portugal, I have no case as that scoundrel MacAnthony never got found guilty and there is no special pot or fund to pay compensation from. These companies keep asking for more and more money and at best lodge a complaint which is not a court case. There are no court records showing successful claims, or any that actually got lodged by these companies that lost. Anyone who hands over money will loose it as payment goes through klick and pay, which you can not use your credit card agreement to get back. The guarantees are not worth the paper they are written on. If any of those on here really got money back but want to remain anon ok, but I ask that you give your successful evidence to an independent international solicitor here so we can all find out how to get compensation. There are lots of other forums about these companies and its all the same, its a very clever con that the4y are masters at.
  • Hi All,
i'm joining this forum a bit late. But since all your posts (up to about year 2013) when many of you are hopeful of some type of compensation, did any of you get compensation for MRI property sales problems?
    thanks

I've just been contacted by Litigation Services, but looks like they were Fastline. Any updates from people on getting money back? Great if you can still update and help others like myself. Thanks
  • just found this posting.
Is there anyone with recent updates? Litigation SErvices SL are on my case & want me to sent money for paperwork & translation. I paid a deposit on an apartment in Portugal over 10 years ago. Not sure if i can believe the promises of a full refund of my deposit. ?

Personally, i've told these people I am not paying a single penny and they are not interested.
I think after being ripped off by MRI you'd be crazy to pay money to any company that contacts you.
  • My husband and I submitted a claim against MRI some time ago, (3+ years), through Litigation Services. Two years ago in August we had to go in person to the court in Marbella to register our claim and were told it would be 18 months to 2 years. Earlier this year we were advised that, due to the volume of claims, it had been transferred to the high court, or similar, in Madrid, and so we continue waiting. I can fully understand why previous folks posting in this string feared it to be a scam but, if it is, it’s the crappiest scam ever as Litigation Services couldn’t even pay for someone to answer our emails out of what we’ve paid them - peanuts. Even so, I do wonder whether anything will ever come off it. Has anyone else had any success claiming against MRI it has a similar experience to ours? I’d love to hear from other MRI victims if for no other reason than to not feel quite so alone. Is it time to just forget it and move on?
  • Any update, Kitty? My husband and I paid a minimal amount to Litigation Services some time ago, far too small an amount to make any dosh for a real scammer. They still answer our emails even though it’s 2 years since we registered our claim with the Marbella court and we’re still waiting. Apparently the claims have not been passed to the higher court in Madrid. No idea if it’ll ever come to anything. What happened with you?

Define minimal and if you multiply that amount by how many other people they have scammed, it becomes significant for them
